Go to your local Home Depot and buy one 7 gal orange construction bucket with lid; approximately $8. Go to your local hydro store or online and get a waterfarm kit for $15; include all connectors and parts. Add a pump from walmart for $10 and there you go. Also get the net pot for the bucket at the same hydro dtore for $5. Homemade waterfarm less than $30. Good luck and good growing.

waterfarm parts kit

waterfarm parts kit

I would recommend doing a google search about the bucket kit. It is everwhere for $14.95. Pehaps you misunderstand, the kit only includes hoses and connectors, no nutes or anything else. I would buy nutes seperate from my setup, that is wjhat I do and did. Do what you desire, the bucket connector kits are $15 with a bucket and an insert and a pump, but you can buy a waterfarm kit for $50 real easy everyehere. Good luck!

no problem. If you google o go to any hydro shop you can see the kit. The rip-off is in the watefam kit for $50. I got a bucket from HD and the rest is cake. When you see one apart and together you will undestand the simplicity. A bucket with a net pot and an air pump, with hoses. However, I learned that using air pumps raises your ph levels constantly. I moved on to aeroponics no ph problems. Move slowly and spend even more slowly. I started out with a pot and some seeds. Good luck and good grow.

there is a small piece at the bottom of the hydrofarm kits that can not be found anywhere by me..... I have looked!!! My hydro guy and myself have both come up short of that one piece to build it ourselves. Being that the drip kit only cost $15 .....thats not to bad.

HOG, the bit at the bottom, do u mean the one that the drip ring and airline suck the water up thru?? kinda like a T but not, if u know what i mean m8.

Well, i put em together last night. Incidentally, the reason the proper ones are expensive, its coz of the uv barrier in the layers of plastic, I found this out from the gro-shop, anyway, blocks all light, and its very very tuff plastic. I have a couple of niggles though with the quality. Silly little things really, like the little grey clips which fix the top of the water lever indicator( the blue tube in the side that doesnt do anythin, lol) well, that clip, they r crap, they dont clip into the hole and hold it in place, so its less than 24 hours old, and im already adding duct-tape, lol. other thigs that annoyed me were such as the holes in the inner pot bottom looked lie they had been made with a pen knife, lol, all the little stringy bits r still there so i had to very carefully trim them off to uncover the holes. its just where they been drilled. Silly things I know but when ur spending money u think it'd be right, lol. Im not that bothered as its only little things as i say, and i am buzzing with em, lol.

HOG, i bought some of the parts i needed off ebay, i think i saw some good deals on parts for building your own system. search for hydroponic then narrow it from there if you want to. good luck

Mine came today! Should i use a net pot, or just cover the roots with the clay balls?

How deep should the plant sit?

I have just planted the clones (was rooted in soil so i washed it ALL off the roots!) str8 into the clay pebbles, and just planted them deep enuff so that the roots are covered up and supporting the stem heres a pic

(Im glad I can finally say that and be more helpful)

Do not despair people, the shithole looking area they r in right now is only the temp place while i finish the new veg room. :biglaugh:

might not be much use, but u get the idea, they r flourishing in there now, just get it so the leaves aint too near the ring - as i have found that the droplets splash up from the clay, and drench the leaves (as u can see!), and we know what water under HPS does to ur leaves  Im not sure if i done it right or not as i only had em a week, so we'll soon see, but the one on the right(Towley's Treasure by Kryptonite!) was very droopy when i 1st put her in as i had let her rootball dry right out to facilitate easier removal of most the soil/perlite mix. but she picked right up within a couple of hours in there. I want to get the UK equivalent bits for Krypto's controller, as I bet it could be used to keep the level on these, and if i save on the controller, i can buy another farm.

Warning for ya Harry. Watch those roots and your resevoir VERY closely for signs of infection. There's a good chance that even though you washed them thoroughly there may be infectious (to water culture) bacterium nestled up in there.

My first experience (successful but scary) doing this was with a Lifesaver plant in a bubbler. It was fine for the first few days, then I noticed the drooping, and sad looking leaves....figured it for delayed shock....not wanting to piss it off anymore I just left it till the next res change.....big mistake. I had "rotted meat smell" and this brackish slime virtually filling that bucket.... it was terrible. I took the plant out of it's planter and put her in the shower and as I sprayed the nasties off , the roots virtually fell away as the water washed over... I finally took a knife (this plant is four feet tall and the roots fill the 5 gal bucket BTW) and cut every root except for the tap root off...then I scraped the taproot with the edge of the knife and sprayed all the loose crap off of it.... damn plant woulda died if it had any sense LOL. Instead, I smeared the tap with rooting powder and hit the water with a little B vitamin and kept an eye on her. She came back...amazingly didn't hermie, and still gave me some of the best smoke I'd ever had .

BTW .... I am NOT SUGGESTING ANYONE DO THIS TO THEIR PLANTS!! It was an emergency measure only! I was completely prepared (and expecting ) to lose that plant.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it

No prbs pistill whipped, It was rinsed about 100 times over 48 hours lol, in the bath, with H2O2 and hot water the 1st couple times, then just hot water, then ikept filling and empying( I put a bit of net-pot over the plug hole to stop any big bits going down and blocking it.. then it all got taken out and put in 4 carrier bags wioth holes ion and rinsed and shook about and again and again, By the time I had finshed I could stick my hand in the middle of all the pebbles and swirlt it around(make a fist or it hurts) and pull it out with no red on my hands at all, then it got another good washing in the bathtub with more hot water and H202 again and finally another final rinse woth cold water.
Took some bloody doing I can tell u, :biglaugh: Im thinking about getting Dialhydro high silica medium,im getting a sample next time im @ the gro-shop so i will try it ina bubbler 1st before i drop 40pounds for 40 litres, man that would be expensive to fil half a dozen Aquafarms, lol. Im also wondering if Hydroton an the Dialhydro stuff could be mixed together for the sake of getting good use for the Dail, but the economy of the Hydroton. If I were to do this however, I would deffo use a netpot for the clone then, and have it filled with just dialhydro, and plant that in the mixture.

I am going to be using Vita-links silicon product for now "Silicon +" and their "Bio pak" ( which i got to get some more of as i have left tyhe top off it and its fucked, never mind, it was free") Both of these are sposed yto be good for protectig againbst root pathogens.

you can get an 8 farm kit with controller off of ebay for about 255 (i would suggest modifyinn to recirculate) -- if not save up and research HOG's recirculating ebb and flo buckets or Big Smoke's bio-buckets! Those are some fail proof bucket methods

Water Farm step by step instructions

Hi Everyone,
This is my first post and I'm (a) BigBogFan.

Here are some online instructions for building waterfarm units for just the cost of materials.

This is a great site, lots of free information.

Hope this helps.
