Do all weed smokers have a common similarity?

I don't know if all tokers have a common similarity besides getting high. Weed makes me a better, nicer, calmer happier person. To me, getting high is like wrapping up in a warm blanket on a cold night. Everyone around me agrees that I am a better person when I use cannabis. I am fairly confident that any mature smoker pretty much feels the same way I do.

It's funny, though. It seems like sometimes you can make eye contact with a total stranger and just know that they are high, and they know that you are high. It's almost like "stoner radar". LOL. Has anyone ever had that experience?

Also, as it has been mentioned above; Cannabis has a way of connecting people. When you share a smoke with someone, you form a bond with that person. Even if the bond extends no further than just a little trust in someone (unless they are a total wackjob).

I guess that no matter how a person enterperates the effects, the effects are still the same for everyone. I hope a little of this makes sense. I'm pretty baked right now.

I’m not criticizing you as a person by saying that you are wrong to dismiss an entire group of people just because they don’t feel enlightened or relaxed by pot.

What you said was:
I separate marijuana smokers into two categories. Those who smoke for introspection and enlightment (someone else said it in the thread and it just sounded like the best possible way to put it :)), as well as medication and relaxation. And then you have the idiots that do things like that just to get 'fucked up'. Just like an alcoholic.

But I just think the issue of WHY someone smokes marijuana is the main issue here.

You say your own experiences have taught you this, and I am challenging that based on MY own experiences (both in my personal life and, most of all, on this web site). I do not know or am acquainted with ANY violent people who smoke pot, nor do I personally know ANY pot smokers who smoke for any other reason than to get fucked up (myself most certainly included).

There’s a difference between judging an individual and making generalizations. I would certainly judge a person based on the things they do/say, but I don’t believe that Asians are bad drivers.

Again, what you said was:
Those who smoke for introspection and enlightment…as well as…relaxation.

If pot doesn’t alter your thought process, it wouldn’t aid you in enlightenment and introspection. I’ve heard many people say, and I’m sure you would agree, that being high allows them to think about things they normally wouldn’t think about, and have ideas they normally wouldn’t have while sober. It inspires them.

In other words, it alters their thought process. I am in no way implying that this is a bad thing.

This has nothing to do with stating that people who smoke to get fucked up are violent “idiots”. This is EXACTLY my point. You can’t generalize, because everyone reacts differently for vastly different reasons. I’m sure there are just as many idiot/introspective smokers as there are “I just want to get fucked up”/peaceful smokers.

I completely agree with your last statement, and therefore completely disagree with your original premise that pot smokers can be separated in to two categories based on nothing more than their personal reason for enjoying getting high.

OK, we both understand one another now. Thanks for the clarification on what you meant. Sorry about earlier, right before I posted someone REALLY pissed me off :( I'm just gonna delete it because it was't called for.

Absolutely. I can tell a stoner from a mile away. And I can ALWAYS tell when someone's high, no matter how hard they try to hide it :-D Just one of those stoner-to-stoner things.

I think the effect it has on all of us is the similarity. But what we do with the effect is the difference. And the difference is usually becuase people are different, and have different goals/personalities...etc.

Its just, maybe because its illegal, people tend to group together as stoner-friends.. u know?

I mean, in this society, no one regularly is friends with someone just becuase they like coffee... Maybe if coffee was illegal, the more brave ones would group together with other coffee-drinkers... and the coffee would be their common bond. Kinda like with pot.

And if weed were legal, would you see more groups of friends, where a few of the people smoked pot, and others didn't? Kinda like groups of friends go to coffee shops, and some people get coffee and others get non-caffeinated things.

I wonder

good question!!

I think it helps you deal with the absurdity of the modern world.....for instance on most days people are trapped in the quest for more money and then get in their cars and drive like madpeople just to go home and sleep before waking up and doing it all over again?

THC helps take you out of this busy-hectic world and allows you to appreciate how nice the simple things are like ice cream and good friends and WOW look at this werid insect!!!!

(guineapig was not stoned when he wrote this......lol)

To date the only thing I've noticed cannabis consumers all have in common is that they're human beings. Do you realize that at a fairly conservative estimate of 5% of the population there would be 300 million world wide?

I'd like to take this opportunity to rail against calling cannabis 'weed'. It was the first plant domesticated by man. If it's a weed every friggin plant in the world is a weed.

Yeah I hear you man. It just boggles my mind tho. I think some people are just more spiritual, or have deeper minds...than others.

Backpacking and experiencing diff. locales and cultures is what gives people "deeper" minds...

its a substance.
but its also a plant, a herb that is NOT chemically changed in anyway from nature.

my belief is that this is my realtiy. And, if i were to make something natural to enhance/relax/heal, this would be it.
and quite frankly physically this seems to be correct also.
it can also be abused but I feel the point of abuse is way lower then something say more additive like cigs. Some one is more likely to abuse the cig because it is more additive.
Also, you cant die from thc. Technically you can but you would have to consume a lot of fucking weed in a small instant. So, that adds a safeness to it.

its quite silly to label thc consumers as "criminals", its by far safer for me personally and for society then other drugs that you can abuse all you want legally.

I think it enhances and it has changed my life, for the better. I havent reached enlightenment and i dont think this alone can achieve it for me but I believe it helps.
I think it also brings a peace of mind to me and relaxes me. Say booze, if i take during an emotional time, i "change" into another person. typically because when depressed I would overdo it and be way too drunk. And, when im too drunk, i dont give a fuck.
You dont think about your actions while drunk. your unreasonable and violent.
but weed, im aware of everything, thoughts, emotions, ideas, beliefs. I could of smoked a blunt and ill still be aware.
I care about others thoughts, emotions, ideas. and im not going to intentionally hurt someone.

In the 60s, most people had the same beliefs and thoughts that experimented with pot in the USA. or had after. But, I feel in todays reality more different kinds of people are using weed. But also the enviroment is different. There parents were very very conservative. Tight rules and whatnot. There youth just wanted to rebell. Our parents were these people and dont bring apon the tight rules and beliefs about ones freedom.
