DJ Short's GRAPE KRUSH

Has anyone else noticed that the plants don't really pop right away? My other strains are forming obvious buds at week 4, the Grape Krush has tight nodes but more like a little budlet at each node vs cola formation. I'm hoping it just blows up the last half. Any thoughts?

had a great grow of the grapekrush in 07 or so, couldnt get it to reveg but had 4 beans left. 2 months back i cracked em, got 1 female. a wrinkled crinkled deep purple, plant that i would have tossed out if i hadnt already known about the strains propensity for wrinkling. took cuts this time , and christ did it take a long time to root, mebe 3 weeks. now she is a week or so out from flip, and the damn leaves are still wrinkled. any thoughts on whether the wrinkled leaves are more than a cosmetic issue? i remember SOME wrinkling the last time, and the herb was dank, but i dunno if a super wrinkled plant is worth the space in my room.

Nice report man. Grape Krush has the most unique high. It had me checking my pants every 30 seconds because it felt like I was wetting myself :biglaugh:! Super psychedelic shit without raciness or paranoia.

High sounds very much like Vanniluna, tho Vanniluna's flavor is more like a vanilla latte.

GK, Coca Kush, and Vanniluna, are all so similar that I (personally) Speculate them being simply different pheno's of the same plant.

What ever it is, I'd love a solid grape flavor, but I'm more than satisfied with my current coffee drink flavor and spectacular high! :tiphat:

the leaf crinkcle is not just the genetics its a few factors. I have noticed you will avoid the crinkle almost entirely by controling your pH and EC as well as ensuring no over watering ie adequate root respiration. DJs are more sensitive than some other types but can be dialed in nicely in my opinion.

long live the GK

GK is my 2nd favorite strain.
AS far as smell taste and bud quality it is #1
I can add some pics of mine if anyone is interested.

I'd love to see some Grape Krush bud pics

I grew this with temps at almost 90 in the daytime and 70-80 at night. My house a/c was broken. It would have gotten more color with cooler night temps for sure.

Wow! Those are some of the prettiest buds I have seen. I can't believe I missed this thread. Great job, especially growing them in high temperatures. I can't wait for a smoke report.

How long ago did you order the seeds and how would you rate the yield?

Thanx.
I didnt get seeds, actually I got her as a cutting from a dispensary over a yr and a half ago. (it was just a gamble like the 30 other cuts I got) Most cuts from disp were bug ridden and or just plain weak genetics.

I have flowered her 2x, once the mom and once the clones.
I have one outside right now, and a new mom and new clones.

As far as a smoke report goes..she smells and tastes fruity. In fact she is the tastiest bud I have smoked.
the smell is awesome, might not say grapes but fruity or berry..?

The high comes on quick...the 1st grow the high was in the head 1st then body, and almost seemed like a letdown, but the high migrated to the body more and didnt actaully go away.
The 2nd grow the high is more even throughout.

I left half the plant9 weeks and the other half almost 11 weeks just to see what happens. The buds are in the same jar...whats left. The 11 weekers are a crazy body ride with waves and hot flashes...made me freak out the 1st time not expecting nor used to a body high like that.

Yield was better than expected actually.
I vegged to 1.5ft tall about a month under either a 400 or 600 cant remember now.
Flowered in 2.5 gl yielded about 2 or a lil more oz each under a 600 watt hps

2nd grow was vegged 2 months to almost 4 ft...single plant topped like last time, flowered with other strains under a 1000 and t5 sides.
She yielded almost 5 oz in a 7 gallon pot filled 2/3 full.

The 1st time was under ideal weather conditions and 55* at night often
The 2nd was hot conditions.

I want to add that i am a new grower, and others might yield better or the same.

I used GH powders all 3 also liquid Karma and molasses during last 1/2-2/3 of flower. on the 2nd grow I also switched to r/o water and added calmag, and pro silicate every 3rd approx watering.

Here are my first Grape Krush from seed, the clone I had a few years ago was a horrible yielder, good herb though. They have very red stems in veg but seem to lose it in bloom. One phenotype (the first photo) is stretching in flower like mad. 1 week in and it has doubled in size! They are def. fickle with feeding, over watering and seem to be a bit slower in growth than my other strains, I hope I can find a decent yielder. I got 3 females, 1 hermie and 5 males out of a 10 pack of seeds. Still stoked :)

I am curious with Elevator Man and his work, I wonder if I want the stretchy pheno or the squat pheno? I guess we will know shortly!
