Here are some pics of how we build our diy smart pots. Big thanks to

Here we are constructing a 10 gallon smart pot

Tools to get the job done.

25 inch X 50 inch piece of geotextile fabric unfolded

fold in half into a 25 x 25 inch square

glue or stitch the two open sides. Here we use PL glue. this stuff is rock solid

smooth out the glue

really work out any bubbles and smooth that mofo out!

Repeat on the opposite side

You let the bag sit flat for 48 hours so the glue can dry/cure and expand. The glued edges will not break loose. PL premium is rank stuff.

This is what you end up with..

Now fold the bag inside out

make the coners touch each other inside the bag

All done!

So cheap to make and easy as can be

here is the data for the size of pots and cut size

no more fkin around, ran the numbers through a spreadsheet

size accounts for 3/4 inch of glued edge, and the gallons are at 85% of pot capacity

well i can't say for certain that the glue will affect anything. We have not seen any problems from it. I know people at another forum that use the PL premium glue and have nothing bad to say about it.

Sewing machine...How I do mine. Good sewing machine is $200 on Ebay/Amazon.
Cut one square for the base (12"x12"). One rectangle for the sides. (4' x 12"). For a 12" square pot.

a sewing machine would work with this cut method also. Just sew the two sides then flip inside out. Im deff looking into getting a sewing machine.

I don't even remove the pots when up-potting, ime the roots will grow right through the 6oz nonwoven fabric if the soil is moist on the outside of the bag = zero transplant shock

works outdoors too, like a big jiffy puck..
