DIY: Simple cheap Co2 generator

I've been buying green pad co2 generators. I looked them up and there just giant meat packaging pads (The white pad that comes under steak, used to keep/make it look red). Anyways all they are is baking soda and citric acid activated by moisture. Citric acid is in vinegar so could I just like cut a slit into a sponge or something and pour in baking soda and spray with vinegar. Or cover a towel or paper towel in baking soda and spray that with vinegar. Would this work better or be a cheaper method.
Is there anything that has more citric acid than vinegar that I can find anywhere, what would you put it on

why is it you need more co2? sealed room? big # lights?

My temps are always in the 80s, perfect for co2. If I have no co2 then I gotta redo the room. I'm limited on what I can do. I can't set up an A/C. I'm experimenting with co2 and want to maximize my yield for my personal garden. No it's only 2000 watts so not big but I want to learn more and explore my options. Co2 is something that caught my attention I am learning how to use it in my garden through my own experience. May not be a super idea but it's my plan and I'm sticking to it

I remember when my place smelled like vinegar.. I did the drip setup..vinegar into a pitcher with baking soda in the bottom,,,then I used fermentation from beer and wine ,,,,from the airlock I ran tubing to back of oscillating fan..then I got a couple real setups..propane and bottled..now my place smells better ....yeehaw,,but I do miss the beer and wine..with co2 you need constant levels and adjust your ferts for the growth....I never really saw any significant gains using the ferment and drip setups...but it wont hurt especially if your not introducing a lot of fresh air...

Got a 150 cu ft cab that is almost sealed, gonna give the baking soda and vinegar a try and see what happens.

Cheap CO2 Generator.
1. Jar of backers yeast.
2. 2 pounds sugar
3. tbsp Baking Soda
4. 1 air pump
5. 10 qt bucket
6. 1 gallon water

fill the bucket with 1-gallon of water at room temperature, 1 jar bakers yeast, 2 pounds sugar and 2 tabsp. baking soda then wisk it together. use grommets for airhoses to make an air-tight seal. run 1 air-hose into the solution with an airstone attached to an airpump and the other suspended right below the lid. that one is run to osclating fan. have the airpump hooked up to light timer so the airpump forced the Co2 out when the lights come on. add about a cup of sugar every 2 weeks to keep the yeast active. although this can be a pain sometimes it works. it is a cheap alternative and produces no heat

using an airlock is superior as you can see the release of co2 and track it...yeehaw..no airpump needed.after a while you can figure out when co2 production slows and needs replaced with next batch....belive me I tried many methods prior...damn now I want some beer...lol
