DIY Light Mover

There is new HOPE!

My other thread

After talking with ooga, I got the idea last night. I just needed to change my frame and how I was mounting the light. HOORAY! :jump:

Ooga: About the cost/quality, I'll only be out $50 or so on this build, and it will be very sturdy and work just as good as any other mover.

Actually, here's a much better picture of the paddle switch & stopper.

You're making my life too easy man. Now all I need is a DPDT switch instead of some IC circuit. Simple simple.

Excellent idea on the gantry crane design! I don't know why I didn't think of that... I pass by lots and lots of 'em every day.

I think I'm far underestimating your resource-gathering and building / engineering skills. But that's because I have nothing to go by besides drawings so far... hope you get that card reader found! I'd love to see what you got cooked up.

Thanks bro, appreciate it. Yeah, I've been helping my dad pour concrete, build sheds, house additions, you name it since I was a little kid. And I've worked in the construction industry myself for a bit. All that with my love of computers/electronics lets me do about anything if I put my mind to it.

I'm headed up to Super Wally World to see if they have a reader. I've got some wood working porn from last night. that just sounds wrong ;)

Peace,

Hi did you ever choose a motor for your LM? If so I never saw it. Anyhow I have a suggestion, how about one of these. The price seems right and might help you come under your overall cost estimate.

It is reversible and includes the capacitor also. Here is the link to the motor-

It includes a small wiring schematic. Seems all you need is a spdt (on on) switch and your in business. There are several variations of spdt switch's, maybe a long paddle type, or roller switch might work well for your project.

As for your roller skate wheel, he he, I was thinking the same a while back. Only I wasn't going to use it for a drive wheel, as it would move to far to fast. If you look you can find some 49 mm dia (1.9 inches) ones on ebay. These were the smallest I could find when I was searching.

Well I hope you come back and finish this project, and good luck!

Hey guys. I never have forgotten about this project. It's just on the back burner. I made some changes to my cab over the build and the light mover didn't make the cut. But once my grow is up and running (about a week) I'll get back to work on this. I still believe this could help a lot of people. At least it's an interesting project.

Peace,
