i use the supertubs from lowes, the big ones. I got 2 tables with 2 tubs/1 res per table. I use promix and can leave it on a timer for a week or so at a time or just water manually by pressing the on button I like the promix because it's not so deadly if you have a power outage or timer failure, they can go almost a week before becoming bone dry. To get the most out of the tubs I added a layer of 'egg crate' ceiling tile that keeps the pots just above the 1-2" of sitting water in the tubs. I can space the plants out a little more evenly with less gaps where the tubs meet. Sog style I could fit 12 per tub comfortably giving a total of 48 plants in a 4x6 area under a 1k w/ light mover. i stagger harvest but if i did one at a time would easily get a lb using a good compact indica. i like variety and sats though so i never get anything close to that. but it's nice to know i could...

I loved this guide so much I built two of them! I put my own twist on it and it fits well in my hydrohut (3x3x6.5 ft). Instead of PVC I went with cheap stackable shelf unit @ local hardware for $25 and made two tables, IMO its studier than PVC. I used an ebb and flow fitting kit in each tray and sealed it with with silicon. I am using only one tray right now and a 10 gallon res, but soon two trays with a 13 gallon res.

I'm 4" off of 3x3 with my DR80 would I still be able to fit both tables like this in my tent I would love to know as I can't find anything better than 2x2!! Unless folks know of a 2.5x2.5 table out there haha

Yeah, and check out the pic at the bottom of each page showing their basement "window well". More like a "Widow well" -- 'cause it sure looks like weed clones growin' out there to me.

The egg crate product can be found in a cap, in the ceiling tile section at Home De Pot, along with the other styles of the product. It's about $11.00 for a 2' x 4' section.

Has anyone ever had a problem with brand new white egg crate causing a slimy residue all over the system? I have a new system that I started with all "virgin" components. I.E. the egg crate, buckets, tank, sump etc... Everything in the system was pristine except for the live rock which came from a well established system. I dont know if this is simply a new tank syndrome or what but this stuff is like a slimy bucket of .....for lack of a better term SNOT!!!!! It clocks my filter socks withing 24 hours and I am hoping it will just go away in time. anybody ever experience anything similar?

That white egg crate seems to produce snot algae, and eventually other algaes for everyone. Most who have dealt with it treat new egg crate by soaking in vinegar or bleach to remove whatever it is that is food for algae. Once treated thoroughly, people don't have the problem. I'll look around later to see if I can find a recipe for treating the stuff.​

by the way, I don't know the brand, but the mixing tubs sold at Home De Pot are 1000x better than the tubs sold at Lowes (MacCourt brand). The HD tub bottoms are FLAT/smooth and the all around construction is more sturdy. Will check the brand tonight or tomorrow and update this thread again.

I'm building a two tub system now using the larger ones, but -- Hmmm. . . I'm wondering if a 1K would cover three of those larger tubs run side to side to side (3' X 6')? What about with a light mover (which I hear totally conflicting reports on)?

dang... thank all of u i read every post from the beginning and i am now confident enough to go out and get this dun!! iwill be back to post my results!! i think i maybe liking thelong clearteays but the home depot tubs look much more sturdy.. hmm... ill figure her out thanks again to all..
