Uh, what? What is your guys problem? Is something wrong? If I am wrong explain why, not just leave some lame quote. I never claimed to be an expert on the subject, but common sense says less airflow, smaller filter. Having a hard time figuring out why I am being attacked for trying to ask questions.

Uh, what?

Chicken butt.

What is your guys problem?
The problem is yours. You asked for some input and got some. If you don't like it, ignore it. If you don't get the input you're looking for, don't take issue with the others that attempted to help you. Try an advanced search for the many examples you say exist. If you're right and this has been done many times, search first and don't clog the forum with repetitive threads.

Is something wrong? If I am wrong explain why, not just leave some lame quote.
Yes something is wrong. Asking for tips and asking for an explanation why your project won't work are two different things. I repeat, nobody said you're wrong. (This was no accident.) If you want to try something that's unconventional, give it your best shot. Maybe you'll remember the things you read in this thread. A lame thread deserves a lame quote.

I never claimed to be an expert on the subject, but common sense says less airflow, smaller filter.
Nobody questioned you expert status or lack of it. I bet common sense told you 4" looks close enough to 6" to work. I'll bet common sense didn't tell you it's almost two and a half times smaller.

Having a hard time figuring out why I am being attacked for trying to ask questions.
Yer a babe in the woods. In fact, "lame" "attack" and "common sense" are your words. Sounds like you're attacking us. When you seek advice, keep your rejection close to the vest, accept what you want. Taking issue with folks that try to help will discourage others from helping you in the future. Don't spin everything you don't want to hear into a social quirk.

Slow,

If you feel you've a personality clash with Hoosier, then, you're right. You feel what you feel. But consider this, while I can help with "Venting for Dummies" HoosierDaddy does "Venting for Smart People" Doesn't mean you have to like him or "follow orders" but, do yourself the favor of giving his posts a good read.

The two questions you originally asked have a single answer. The fan is built so that the largest duct it can accept is 6". Having the most airflow, whether you use it all or not, is best. And folks will have the best luck with what is optimum for any given situation. The further away from optimum we get, the harder it is to maintain certain parameters that the grow demands.

This has all been stated repeatedly.

What you are doing, young man, is asking for validation of your proposed set-op from the majority. Many, and perhaps you as well, feel that as long as everyone else is doing it, it must be proper. Far too lazy of people to actually research the subject. They would much rather pop into a site like this with no credentials, and asking for folks to take their precious time to spoon feed them through building their grow.
And to top it off, some of these types of immature people actually call others names that tried to help them.
Assholes I call them, what say you?

Calling me an asshole now huh? Okay, thats enough. Grow up! Why are you guys so angry? I even admit you are right, I know you are. But to assume I am some newbie idiot begging for help is wrong. Just never needed a scrubber for the past 10 years. Not asking for help setting up my whole grow either. I guess there is such a thing as a stupid question.

It's pretty simple. You haven't been told it wouldn't work. You've been cautioned to take heed. You didn't like the info. Asking same to endorse is not working IMHO.

Angry is a strong word. Irritated is more like it. You were treated rather well for such a terse defense of your significant compromise. A search would either support or reject your plan. You could even make direct contact with others you say are successfully doing what you want to do. Would probably take half the time you've spent here.

FYI I have contacted people who have made changes, and they have worked. Sometimes opening a new post can help others with similar issues, and sometimes you just get people like you who want to argue. Keep up the good work! Have seen scrubbers made out of pretty much everything, are they techincally perfect? No, but if it keeps the smell out, and temps in check it is doing a good job.

Disco, no need to write in this thread anymore. Take your own advice!
