Thats great of course when you are trying to get many cuttings from a mother plant.....

What if your goal is to get the biggest plant you can get.....as fast as possible????

ANyone take any large clones...... Im talking standard clones.....

no fancy stuff like air layering......

Have you got any pics of some big-assed clones?????

Years ago found larger cuts, it still took same amount of time to establish root growth. Clones 4-6" or there about proved best. Those at 10-12" and more, had problems rooting them. That was back before Olivia's and Root Tone products, cutting placing in moist sand bed w/ small humid tent (plastic ware dome) over it.

The reason why Im asking im Im going to try a couple in my wick cloner.....

I realize there will be transporation issues......

so the clone will be aided by one of those flimsy grocery bags.......

I wanted to try 2 or 3 in the 8 to 12 inch range and see what I get......

Sounds like a plan. Try it...hopefully great success.

I took 2 substantial clones.....

I did scrape opposite sides of the clones.....to expose the cambrium layer under the bark.....

I used clonex......... and a grocery bag to reduce transpiration.....

The clones were cut last night...... they arent really droopy....... they look funny cause of the bag....

4-6" is perfect.

Think about it, a 10-12" clone has more leaf mass. Which means more photosynthesis. You don't want that. You want The plant to focus on root structure. Soooo Gotta find that happy medium.

I just posted a new thread on airlayering.....

Fabulous fun....... results better than expected......

But Im doing a little experiment.....

One of the air layers..... did not have roots.....

however it had developed a good deal of callus tissue.....

I cut it...... I want to see if a very large clone cant be pretreated.... in this way to reduce the amount of time a large clone takes to root.......

I do in fact agree....that larger clones do take longer to root........ but not like weeks more.......

ANyway I will examine the clone on sunday and see if its got roots yet......

Its in vermiculite which I can wash away.....

more stem buried more place for roots to start...I have about 3 nodes above soil/medium ect, generally around 5 inches or so I would guess...yeehaw ..fuck them tiny ass clones go big not huge just big... I like perlite for cloning now .. It gives me best foolproof results.... my clones are rocking in 2 weeks .they never skip a beat or droop...no muss no fuss setup..couldn't be easier

haven't done air layering in about 15 years ...saran plastic wrap, rooting agent of choice and moss.. if needed inject water/stuff with needle...I bet pre treating really big clones would work well...yeehaw..go for it an let us know...doing it that way might be good for peeps with plant counts.. if its still attached its all one plant technically..
