Today i was able to get a few things done i have been putting off for a couple days. Turned over some leaves and crushed some visible spider mites that havnt been ate by lady bugs and trying to keep them as much under control as possible through flower. Its not particularly a problem right now, but always good to keep an eye out for the borg under the leaf.
I was wondering what some of you guys thought about the SAFER BT caterpillar killer, and using it into flower when there are trichomes.
maybe just mix it up and sponge it onto the leaves? i know it says use up to day of harvest but im just not a big fan of spraying, from what i have read its fine to spray though, i always drag my feet when it comes to sprays.
anyways, i used 5 gallon water jugs to mix up bat guano, molasses, sweet, a bit of dolomite lime, a few teaspoons of beastie bloomz 0-50-30 for a nice boost in the mix.

Budluver- thank you very much, i personally am really curious to see how big these buds form up seeing i havnt run most of these strains. Honestly im not sure if im gonna be able to pick a favorite, but i would have to say that i am looking forward to the kush's, i just love the hard hitting high, but am looking forward to all the flavors. interested to see if i find what i want in a daytime smoke too The hindu skunk is really sugar coated and smelling great, im sure it was a great pheno type selected for this cut. looking forward to seeing more of your work, and your ladies are looking beautiful. Peace until next time.
Boristheblaze- hey man, yeah things seem to be fattening up very well and am liking the pink pistils. iv been noticing it on at least half the strains now. Your plants are looking very nice, going to be some very nice smoke to be puffing on. Best wishes with the rest of you season and i will catch you later on.
Esbe- Great to see you stopping by as always and hope all is well with you and yours. thats a hard one there, sure wish i could still be seeing dime play new music on his guitar, but i am very happy with how the ladies are looking none the less. Hope the weather is treating you well and i will have to stop by and check out how your ladies are doing, i know they are getting tasty
Teh_Baker- nice to see you here and thanks alot, the sun sure does a great job with pumpin the buds. should be some very nice smoke to come. Nice to hear you will have some buds to be puffin on and i will have to drop in and say High.
Habibi- Glad you like the garden bro, i just got these clones from a club and i know nothing about them, they are smelling really great though and look like they are going to yield very well. Looking forward to seeing the rest of your ladies finish out this year and i will be talkin to ya.
Rusto- hey man glad you enjoy the pictures and hope all is well your way. Keep the ladies green and happy and wish you many harvests to come.
Agent 09- hello there, nice to see ya stop by and to be honest it is very difficult to get around in the back of the garden, have to be light on my feet to squeeze around the edge of the garden. The picture of the 818 there are plants around and in front of it, but the 2 of them take up 8x10x6 or so and are really startin to take off. glad you are enjoying the pictures and thanks for the good wishes, i cant wait to see what everything does.
BackCountry- Great to have you stop in and say High I am going to try and get some pictures from above the canopy at some point, everything is really fillin in like crazy. thank you kindly and wishing you the best with mother nature and the rest of your season.
Highlighter- hey man! great to see you, and i completely understand not being around after your very unfortunate happenings. glad you like the progression in the garden and hope to see you around if it works out for you. it is difficult to not like any of these ladies, they all smell so great, and have different highs for variety during the day. Thanks for the kind words and wishes for the season, i can use all the good vibes i can get. Hope all is going well with you these days and i will catch you later on.
Pipeline- hey man, great to have you here as well, and thank you very much. Security definitely does come first, and im trying to keep everything under wraps. and as far as wanting to see the bushes in full bloom, You and me both on that one man!! Hope your having a great week and peace until next time.
Lambsbreath- first off i wanna say its great to have you here, and i really appreciate your words of encouragement. great to see so many familiar faces and new ones stopping by, and i really hope all is going well with you. Its been quite some time in coming and im looking forward to the wonderful smoke. Heres to keeping it green and best wishing going out to you in the amazonian jungle
>>
as always a pleasure to have you all stop by and give your words of encouragement. Puff er easy everyone!
i have a question for ya...the thunderskunk?? got some seeds from a guy in florida during the OG dayz (sent to me here in london uk) of a small seedbank's skunk x sagamartha seeds MTF... aka thunderskunk!! the skunk was bred using SSH...
Elk Woman- hello there and welcome to the forums! . . . from what i understand there is a indica and sativa dominant snocap . . .
Glad you had a good time with your club adventure, i personally get a little upset about where they are taking the show weeds, and how they portrayed the canna clubs but maybe im just a bit over sensitive about it all. I really enjoy looking through various strains grown by other people and when i see something really well grown i usually have to try a little of it
Morning, Dime,
Thanks for the welcome. I appreciate the info on the Snocap: seems I have the sativa pheno too, as the leaves look the same as your photo. Glad to hear it smells like TW, as that’s one of my favorites. And my TW cuts were acting pretty iffy when I put them outdoors in early June, started girling-up way too soon, but now it’s amazing: both plants are at least twice the size and girth of last year’s, and are looking and smelling quite delicious. Lots of beautiful hairs, etc. YUMMM!
Re: Pot of Gold: I like Hindu Kush very much, but not too into Skunk; seems nasty and harsh most of the time (coughed my brains out every time). My friend the migraine sufferer swears by it, but I never enjoyed it till I tried Super Skunk, which seems smoother and easier to smoke. We just found a hidden stash of last year’s SS, and it’s a nice ‘erb to balance out the preponderance of indica stash that’s left in the bottom of the Magic Box. This year’s Critical Mass is HUGE, about 6’ tall I suppose like its parent; takes four of us to circle the circumference. When we move into harvest mode I’ll be sending a report.
We’re big on daytime/ sativa bud here, except for the heavy indicas I use to help me sleep (average about 3-5 hours/ night without it, and boy am I cranky the next day!) – Afgooey, Black Domina, California Orange, Kush, Hindu Kush, etc. And I’m getting really good at baking excessively delicious chocolate chip cookie sleep-aids; I’ll check out the postings on the recipe forum and see about adding my recipe.
The Bay Area Clubs: my report
My partner and I had a wild ride the day we drove down to Oaksterdam to see what we could bring home. First we had to sign up with the OCBC, who were very helpful in directing us to the clubs most likely to carry cuts; in fact, they were thrilled that we were committed to outdoor organic gardening. But of five clubs, only two had cuts – and of course, it’s deeply inappropriate to ask about it over the phone! (who knew?) Made things A LOT more difficult, as it seems there must be DOZENS of clubs in Oakland/ Berkeley alone!
Our Bubba Kush and Master Kush came from a Berkeley club that only had the two strains; I didn’t know anything about them at the time but we were desperate to bring home SOMETHING, so I bought two; then just as I was leaving, I thought, “s**t: I don’t even know how these smoke!” So I bought a gr of each to try at home. OHH YEAHH!! LOVED that Bubba Girl! MK seems a bit strong: remeinds me of the Black Muslim-style guards at the club – powerful, disciplined, discreet. Hubby seems to like it though, which is unusual for him; he’s the “Frisbee-throwing” stoner type: stupid humor and wholly goofy. (I love it.)
Majority of the clubs seemed nothing special: mix of laid-back stoners in the smoking salons (didn’t join, trying to keep sober while we wade through pre-rush hour traffic using an inefficient map); some clubs felt downright sleazy, but the one I liked the best was the last one (not naming them unless someone asks).
Some cute young hippies in a club on Telegraph gave us medi-caramels as our intro to their scene; unfortunately they didn’t have any cuts, but before we left I picked up a gr of Lambsbread: I’d only smoked this once, back somewhere in the ‘70s, but if you’ve ever tried it maybe you agree it’s pretty memorable. Short but VERY cerebral high, lots of stress relief. When we smoked it on the way back to the Foothills, we were laughing ourselves silly. The euphoria probably also had something to do with our 15 baby girls in the back of the van!! I can see why the Rastas smoke it and say, “Let I & I Reason togetha!” Laid the rest on hubby and his buddy when we got home; they giggled like girls and were completely goofy – at least for about 1/2 hour! (main drawback, I thought; has anyone reworked this cultivar for longer buzz-time?)
The very last place we checked we hit the motherlode: 2 Train Wreck, 3 Afgooey, 2 Critical Mass, 1 Snocap, 1 Kwik Kali (I’m really looking forward to this one, as she’s definitely showing her tall and lanky sativa side!), 2 Sour Diesel (3 now, got gifted another). This was back in May, and EVERYTHING IS HUGE now! Had to put up protective fencing to the 10’ level. We went to the retired neighbors and told them about our medical status; the widow next door said her husband’s last year was greatly eased by medi-cann before he died of cancer, so she and her grown children are totally behind it. Of course we’re not truly safe, so we stay home a lot, or have friends come sit on it if we leave (very seldom this time of year).
Last comment on a LONG posting: The show ‘Weeds’ isn’t particularly accurate in portraying the clubs; I can see why you may be put off by it. We don’t get Showtime here so I only rent the last season’s DVDs. But I AM glad to know the clubs exist, at least in the present! And I agree with you; I prefer the lighter stories in Weeds and hate to see guns and bud in the same environment. They seem so antithetical!
Sorry I write too much, but I’m SO delighted to be finally able to talk to other afficionados about this beautiful and bountiful plant and all its medicinal qualities. Please be kind in your feedback – and I promise I’ll be more concise in future.
From the land of the Gold Rush,
ElkWoman
PS – What’s the difference between OG Kush and 818 OG Kush? How can I tell which ones I have? They’re very leafy, dark green with long-running stems; lots to tie up. 8’ tall now. Just starting to sparkle.
well i was almost done with replying to everyone than accidentally hit something, and it clicked me back... im having a hard time with that right now but i will try to do this again....
The girls are really loving the sun these days, and all the guanos and sugars (molasses and cane sugar) that i have been adding seems to really be pumping out the trichomes for them.
>>
J-Roc- Hey J man, it most definitely is nice to sit out in the garden and enjoy some fine smoke and a brew, just gotta be careful i dont break off a branch as i inspect the ladies.
Wotamess- glad you are enjoying the garden and in answer to your question that sounds about right on the lineage, but im not sure about which were used... or if it was SSH used... i do know that i am liking what i am seeing and will be using the thunderskunk in some crosses.
FarmerJohn- Very nice to have you stop by the garden and glad you enjoy what you are seeing. Also congratulations on the new addition to the family. Thanks alot for your kind words and feel free to stop back by and say High as things progress, going to be some sugar
Mossy- hello Mossy bro, great to have you here as always Those ladies are looking real nice and appear to be putting on the weight in their age. always bad to hear about worms or caterpillars, i had a big problem with them last year and lost a nice bit of bud due to them. this year i will be spraying SAFER BT, Caterpillar killer to ensure they dont get a foothold in my buds. Looks like you are close enough to harvest you should be fine, time to get the tweezers out!! anyways nice looking girls and hope your having a great week. will be talkin to you
Elk Woman- Very nice to see you stop by again and i must say i really enjoyed reading your story, sounds like you guys had alot of fun
If you like trainwreck i think you will be very pleased with snocap, the sativa one is definitely something i would consider a good daytime smoke and grows a whole lot better than TW in my book. Funny thing is that i had a TW out in june as well that just wasnt going strong in flower but wasnt revegging either... needless to say she got ripped out, tossed and replaced.. my number limits arent high enough to keep around poor growing plants.
Pot of gold is looking like some very tasty smoke, and im not sure what skunks you were smoking before.. but usually a headache will be generated from X factors such as not a proper flush or nutrient build up etc etc.. but than again i know there are some strains i just do not care for. from what i am seeing i am very pleased and the cuts i got seem to be of a very good pheno type of the cross.
That is awesome to hear about the huge ladies, i love the big gals when it comes to cannabis plants
I have been an indica lover for quite some time, they have really helped me when i have been going through medical issues but as my health improves i am starting to look for my keeper sativa leaning daytime smoke. I just dont get a damn thing done when i start the day out with an indica.
And i must say you guys have some excellent indicas! all of those strains you listed are definitely keepers, and i need to find me a good california orange strain, been too long since iv had that great citrus flavor. heard nothing but good things about the knock out power of black domina as well.
I love taking trips to the bay for concerts, clones, smoke and a general adventure of a good time! I have gone to OCBC to get everything done but somehow its never quite worked out due to them closing and it being the weekend or whatever... and they sure dont seem to let people into the clubs without that card. i used to go to all the clubs with just paperwork, and now they are pretty good about it as long as i have my original and my doctor responds quickly.
Bubba kush is some of my all time favorite smoke, a good hard hitter every time and i need to get my hands on it so i can make some crosses. The clubs are fun to go to... but most of the time the people behind the desk dont seem very informed or really know too much about what they are selling, either that or they just dont care what you think and are there for the money. Iv been pleased with most of the clones i have got, othe than the need to spray everything you get to make sure there arent any spider mites hangin around.
Sounds like you guys were Very pleased with the trip all together, and got some very nice cuts and smoke to sample. iv heard great things about the lambsbreath and actually there is someone here that goes by that name.. he might know more about this strain.
It is never completely safe from people or law... but something that might help you out would be some motion sensors for peace of mind. they have them at radio shack or wherever.. and you can set them up and have a remote "dinger" that you can have within 1000 feet or so that will alert you to movement.
as far as the weeds show went, yeah its pretty pathetic how they are portraying it, but it is still a very entertaining show to watch.. even though they try to make it out like there is huge money it in... and that all the clubs are just a racket.. o yeah and that you can pull huge money out of 2 bedrooms of indoor growing... HA!
I actually really enjoyed your story and its very nice to have other people recount their adventures, you are more than welcome here and feel free to stick around, would love to see some of your gals that you have going as well.
and as far as i know there are 3 different cuts of og kush, all pretty similiar other than growing style, a bit in high and taste. but im not an expert, my og want to be hitting around 8ft as well and i keep having to bend over her top branches so its a little more low profile at 6 to 7 ft heh.
anyways hope your having a great day and i will be talkin to you
Elk Woman, I myself just made it into the medical MJ scene. I went down last weekend and got my rec from a doctor in LA, and went to a club on the beach in Venice Beach. And much like you said, the club experience wasnt anything to woof about IMHO. They only offered 10 strains, 7 of which were some sort of kush. The cheapest weed there was $60/8th. They were trying to sell seeds of an admitted hermied plant, and the staff was very ignorant towards the product they were selling. Granted the 2 strains I came back with for myself are wig-splitting, I still cant believe I shelled out $150 for a 1/4!!!
As for the Lambs Breath, correct me if I'm wrong, but wasnt that one of Bob Marley's personal strains? I'm pretty sure that I have read that somewhere, maybe even HT.
nice veriety and buitiful pics yo, i was talking to a frend about security outdoors. some people camp out on cots, this guy uses a baby monitor at night and the garden is only a hundred or so feet from the house.
Hopefully I have it under control..
I had the same problem last year..but mid August..
I thought I had passed the time for them..
Luckily..I had harvest a test bud on the worst hit plant about a week before. I knew she was kicking..
so the decission to harvest the buds that had been hit...was simple.
Every single plant looks absolutely glowing with health..so it is hard to pick a favourite But..
the shape of the last 2..hindu kush/skunks..
so balanced..I could eat them..
well things are formin up in the garden, the ladies are smellin great and the trichomes are plentiful.
>>
Teh_Baker- hey bud, thanks alot, glad you like whats goin on in the garden as far as the clubs go, yes most of the people working behind the counter are either ignorant or just dont care... especially in the LA area they seem to just care bout the all mighty $ even though im sure there are some that do a good job of running their places. I would look around for cuts to add to your garden and not go with seeds.
dbuzz- heh, they are gettin there.. cant wait for them to really sugar up.
JJScorpio- thank you very much, i love having plenty of herb around to make hash, edibles and keif... its going to be a hazy christmas this year
Bongasaurus- glad you are enjoying the pictures man! and hope you enjoy the rest of the show.
Trapik- hey man, good to see you stop by and yes thing seem to be filling in quite well! Just damn hard gettin around in there now a days. I took some close up pictures and hope you enjoy.. had to use a mag glass but most of them turned out alright. Best wishes with the rest of your season and thanks for the kind words.
Mossy- Im sure the more time you spend with the ladies the more you will be able to catch the little bastards before they get too much damage done. The worms seem to actually be the worst this month and the next from what i can remember but it might be different where you are. I am liking the size of the trichomes on the hindu/skunk they sure seem to be some sugar shackers. Hope you have a good weekend as well and Happy harvests to come.
>>>
Well i went out and took some pictures with a magnifying glass and camera... at least give a general idea of whats goin on.
Good god man! What am I building this new grow room for anyway, eh? Sheeeit! I should be growing outdoors...this is moving along VERY quickly, and shaping up very nice. I am stunned at the growth....colors are amazing...who doesn't like pink pistils?
You are totally rocking the house now Dime. Carry on bro!
