Differences between reflectors?

Ok so I was about to order my reflector and a few things came to mind before I ordered I wanted to clear up. first of all im looking at sun system reflectors gonna run 400w. I was looking at the yeildmaster 4"... would this be an appropriate reflector? It says it fits all bulbs except 1000w mh so it might still be too big even though it only has a 4 inch flange....

I also noticed a 20$ price diffrence between the yeildmaster I 4" and the yeildmaster II 4" is the 2nd model 20$ better?

Also is the hortilux bulb worth the extra 40$ over regualar lu-400 hps bulbs?

if anyone is wondering what specificly im talking about its this:

Thats the yeildmaster i can get the yeildmaster II for 20$ more but whats the difference?

edit: just saw this its made for a maximum of 400w so it seems like it would be more compact.

http://www.plantlightinghydroponics.com/sunlight-lumenmax-grow-light-reflector-p-1956.html

lumenmax is the name, its expensive but it looks like the best reflector for a 400w.....

edit again: looks like the lumenmax is not aircoolable scratch that i guess, whys it so expensive?

I have a sun systems 2 & a lumenmax. the lumenmax is small and puts out a small footprint & I beleive designed for aquariums but none the less works. as you stated, it cannot be air-cooled.

the sun systems 2 is my fav reflector.

dont waste extra cash on an expensive name brand hps 400 bulb.

go to H Depot and pick up a Philips hps 400 for $20. it works just as well. color temp is 2100k and 50k lumens. I have grown side by side with a $80 hortilux hps and the $20 H Depot hps and there was no difference in yield or quality. I also use the cmh 400's. I like these for veg and the last couple weeks of flowering. makes them nugs really frosty.

I dont have any experience with the other sun systems reflectors you mentioned.

JT

since your wattage is so low, air cooling isnt really required. a simple gro-wing should be sufficient. i maintain my mothers all summer long in the scorching heat in central commifornia with no problem. but i have it set up in the middle of a bedroom with a circulating fan and the door open :rasta:
