Didgeridoo Anyone?

It's not a digiwhatever, It's a didgeridoo...

I'll respectfully disagree with you on that. It's nothing like your jug, the tambourine, or the vuvuzela. That's like comparing a trumpet to a kazoo. You obviously know very little about the instrument, how it's played, or the skill involved in playing it well. When you can circular breathe on that old jug of yours come on back and give us your opinion.

So I have been practicing breathing since you started this thread GLTHC. Finally...I can do it. The only problem is...I can only do it if I am stoned out of my gourd.

Oh, and mouth position and shape of the wax is CRITICAL...for me. I have been down for a while with a bad back, so have had some time to work on it.

That's awesome TexasToker. :good:

Mouth position and shape of wax is critical for me too. I prefer a smaller more oval shaped opening. I need more beeswax than most, but it's what works for me. Keep at it and you'll be able to do it sober as well. I really need to be playing more. It had been a long time since I'd played when I started this thread, and I have lost a lot of my circular breathing ability. I can go for 4-5 minutes tops now and then I get winded. I want to get that back up to 10-15 minutes. Keep me posted on your progress. I'm really excited for you.

I would love to backpack Australia. My wife spent a month there in college studying aboriginal culture and loved it. I've been to NZ, but wasn't lucky enough to make it to Australia yet. Some day my friend. Someday.

Your welcome anytime greatlakes ..
I have a picture somewhere of a digeridoo a local guy made ..
He carves animals into the trunk of the digeridoo , the one i have has a crocodile on it , usually the digeridoos have just paintings etc on them ,, but a raised carving sure makes them look special ,,,
ill find the pic and add it here ...

New Social Group...

New Social Group...

Hey guys I've started a new social group titled "All Things Didgeridoo." I've created discussion threads for posting pictures of your instruments and also one for instructional videos; where I've loaded the ones from this thread into. Feel free to come and join the group, and post anything that you think appropriate. I'd love to see more pictures of people's didgeridoos. From PVC to Yidaki. All are welcome.

digeridoo i love the sounds of them, have wanted to learn how to make/play one

you can make one out of a piece of PVC that gets a decent sound...not like a termite eaten one, but not bad for a few dollars. just google PVC didge and sure you will find one.
