Did The EPA Intentionally Poison Animas River To Secure SuperFund Money?

A week before The EPA disastrously leaked millions of gallons of toxic waste into The Animas River in Colorado, this letter to the editor was published in The Silverton Standard & The Miner local newspaper, authored by a retired geologist detailing verbatim, how EPA would foul the Animas River on purpose in order to secure superfund money...

"But make no mistake, within seven days, all of the 500gpm flow will return to Cememnt Creek. Contamination may actually increase... The "grand experiment" in my opinion will fail.

And guess what [EPA's] Mr. Hestmark will say then?

Gee, "Plan A" didn't work so I guess we will have to build a treat¬ment plant at a cost to taxpayers of $100 million to $500 million (who knows).

Reading between the lines, I believe that has been the EPA's plan all along"

The EPA actually has no concern for the environment, they just happen to use the environment as a cover story to create laws and gain an advantage for the companies that lobbied for exemptions to the agency’s regulations, and to collect money in fines. There are solutions outside the common government paradigm, and that is mainly the ability for individuals, not governments, to hold polluters personally and financially accountable

please go buy some more hid lights and other stuff you need to exist in society. mines need customers to function!

and always be sure to leave the tv or radio running.

and after that, go for a walk and lop off all the freemasons heads.

I would hope not, fact is Silverton has refused super fund money until recently... still a bad deal 3 out of 4 native species of fish have already vanished I'm sure this will do the 1 left in.. I'm thinking about getting my well tested to see if it has affected the aquifer.

Edit: I live super close to the Animas river I'm sure the affects will be seen later down the road.

The sources for well water will need to be watched closer then normal for an extended period and over an extensive area. Toxins take a while to work their way thru the earth between the surface waters and the aquifers.

The ground water will probably suffer the contamination in the long run sadly. Conspiracy theories aside, dealing with millions of gallons of water can very easily lead to major disaster. Look at the Louisiana salt mine disaster. A 14 inch drill bit completely changed the surrounding landscape before their eyes. It wouldn't surprise me if somebody did want to profit from this though. I suppose this is what happens when we rape the earth and just leave it like that.

Yeah, if you on well water I'd keep an eye on it.
The Navajo Nation has declared*a state of emergency*and is planning lawsuits against the owner of the Gold King Mine, where the sludge originated, and the EPA for causing the spill.

( imean write it to a movie?)

This reminds me of the Ocoee for some reason, another raped river.

EPA loves some mountaintop removal mining, too. They must, because they've let that shit go on forever, despite protestations of Frenz o' Koal to the contrary.

Why does it so often seem that the very institutions we put in place to safeguard us against tragedy like this end up being the ones to cause the tragedies?

I mean the irony of the EPA dumping millions of gallons of extremely toxic waste into a vibrant river is just too glaring.
