Did I get banned from Rollitup?

All the forums have pros/cons, but I think they'd all benefit from a zero-politics policy. Free speech is great, but political discourse is the unraveling of public forums that allow it. People get way too emotional over politics. How many mods here or elsewhere have received death threats over this nonsense? I wouldn't play around either if I was a mod, but the better solution is just to stop it all together. Like, why play with fire? These are weed forums, no? Do people actually smoke and chill anymore? Why does today's weed make people so angry?
I recognize your nym from my brief time at RIU and could not agree more with the above statement.

I live in the SouthEast U.S. and we get hammered by the rest of the country for being racist, redneck, stupid, etc. but one thing we _do_ have is common sense. We know better than to discuss religion or politics around _anyone_ else other than family.

The name of this forum is International Cannagraphic Magazine, _not_ US News and World Report - Politics Edition.

However, unlike RIU, at least Politics doesn't get shoved down your throat in the What's New section here on ICM. So it's easy for me to avoid the Speaker's Corner cesspool and the Mods here on ICM are outstanding keeping the political bullshit out of the main forums and in the outhouse.

I wonder why religion doesn't have the same pervasive effect on a cannabis forum like politics does?

I had to stop participating in the Old Farts thread here because of the damn near daily political diatribe from some of the participants. When some fucker brought up Alex Jones and Sandy Hook being a fake/farce, I kind of lost it and turned the tables from politics to religion:

"Let's switch over to religion now:

You know I think Muhammad was a Jew, Jesus was definitely queer because he never got married, or had a wife and hung around a bunch of _men_, and Buddha was a child molesting pedo who loved him some Kobe beef... fer sure.

Got to turn Chuck off or he is going to get kicked out off another forum, for something as useless as _politics_."

Just like religion, politics has absolutely no place on a cannabis forum, imnsho of course. ;)

removing a sub forum about politics is a `yes´ as well as a `no´ I guess. And here´s why: We´re into weed and weed is still illegal in most parts of the world. And laws, unfortunately are made by politicians. So political issues will automatically pop up when discussing growing and consumption etc.

I guess this is why @Gypsy Nirvana and the others created the Speakers Corner board in the first place. It´s the place where people can have a rant about it all. Trouble is that more often than not it gets way out of hand and too uncivilized (and sometimes just plain stupid) imo.

another reason (for me personally) is that we are currently going through a rough patch which is bound to get even worse. The overall political situation is very delicate and I think it´s good to hear opinions from individuals located around the globe.
I totally the support the idea of being able to have rational debate over these things, but there will always be someone getting irate over politics. And when a mod has to clean up, someone's going to think they're being targeted for their beliefs. My pragmatic side tells me no good comes of allowing politics on forums (not to mention witnessing it over and over the past decade).

There's quite a few over there I have on Ignore. Pretty much the ones that post trigger-bait and never any plants. Just the welcome threads over there should tell you something. There's always one comment along the lines of, "Hey welcome to the forum, stay clear of the politics section and you should love it here!"

Uncle Schmuck did as much to wreck that forum as any other person.
When I was first lurking around RIU when I got back online, I would do searches for old nyms I was familiar with. At first, I got confused with Uncle Buck versus Uncle Ben (who I was aware of from the mid '90s). 😱 :ROFLMAO:

Didn't take me long to figure out they were different nyms from a brief visit in the Politics sub.

I immediately thought of the old Celebrity Deathmatch on MTV.

For sure, and the politics section over there is full of members just like that. If they deleted the politics section, a lot of them would have nowhere else to go. My only guess is that the politics forum generates enough traffic to justify it's existence, and boosts numbers to show potential ad placement clients.

But yeah whether it's allowed or not, whether it's on this forum or any other, politics will come out, people will get upset, insults hurled, threats made, etc. It's a friggin cancer.
American politics is a friggin' cancer, so let us place the blame where it belongs. Americans have been propagandized so much and to such an extreme that they'll behave like spoiled children on political topics when they wouldn't dream of trying it on any other subject. The behaviors discussed are symptoms of a much larger problem.

At least a politics section is a playpen for the cry babies to keep it (and them) out from underfoot of adults trying to get something done.

This is a very well considered and mature response. You'll never fit into a weed forum politics section with that attitude!

Uncle Ben was a toxic right winger who was a talented grower.

Uncle Buck was a toxic Liberal who wouldn't post his grows either because he didn't grow anymore or more likely because he was concerned people would drop a dime on him because he was such an asshole.

I knew and mixed it up with both of them. It taught me the wisdom of Mark Twain; "never argue with an idiot; he'll just drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience."

Lets face it, there once was a "talking politics" which then got replaced with "destroying anyone with more than a hairs width of distance from my favored tribes Commandments".

In politics we could do with some radical centrists, in religion a measure of Fundamentalist Extreme Agnostics would do quite well for the discourse

Jesus, was not a queer, he didnt marry cause he got redpilled;)

Uncle Ben a toxic right winger? I never would have imagined. Ive never seen him even bring up politics but i am fairly new on these forums.
Personally I'm glad there's threads for some of these people whos lives are completely galvanized by politics. I mean if they're this miserable on a grow forum just imagine what its like for their family and friends. Its a mental health service. They probably don't even notice when someone walks away

I wonder what do people argue about on politics forums. Weed?
yes, and most of them against it. Those are not opposed to weed are called `commies´ and unpatriotic (or some other b*llocks) .
PS I´ve no idea as I´ve never been on a strictly political forum. But if they´re anything like speakers corner it´s no wonder the world is in such a state right now :(

He kept it on the politics forum. A class act, unlike Uncle Schmuck.

What's been happening on the speakers corner, insults or what?

I think it's wild how the global power have us arguing with each other (by feeding us all lies) instead of working together to build our own society stronger with smaller governments and without taxes being sent to the never ending war that's filling their pockets.

The world, and especially Americans, have had a (mostly hard right wing) propaganda operation run on them for generations now. There's evidence of it everywhere you care to look, from looking at ownership of major media outlets to the histories of organizations like the FBI and CIA themselves.

They WANT Fascism because under such a system all the power accrues to them.

I've just saved you 4 years getting a Poli Sci degree lol
