diatomaceous earth + pH question

Does a diatomaceous earth layer on top of pots (of coco) affect the pH level? When top watering through the DE. Thanks for any insights.

DE is alkaline but shouldn't throw off pH when used in moderation.

Hey aridbud. Thankyou for the input. I've used it before, went as far as dousing the whole root ball and don't remember any problems. I was going to do my own test 1.mixing some de in water and checking pH and 2.measuring run off through a pot of coco top dressed with de.
However I don't think I'm even going to use de anymore as I'll be reusing my coco pots and I think it will become a mess.
But I can still do the test and post results this weekend if there's any interest...?
