Hey people, A little bit bored here I think I'm going to finish writing what I started on the first page before I got distracted by the S.Q grow. We'll see how it goes seeing how I'm about to smoke, I can't promise I'll get too much done. This is some of the mids I'm smoking on now.So far it has a pretty good chance of getting thrown in the mix.

Far from being snobby about strains with names, I like this idea. Would use bagseed myself except UK stuff doesn't come with any anymore - a casualty of prohibition - The stuff I get from dealers doesn't anyway. This is because the vast majority of UK dealerweed is grown by the houseful, hydroponically, from clone so no males. This has sprung up since the govt. downgraded the legal status of cannabis. Before this, dealerweed was bought from multiple people like us with home grows, so we did get the odd deal with seeds in.

Have you seen DrBudGreenGenes' perpetual microSOG threads and related threads in the micro growing forum? I was just thinking how good that system would be for people wanting to breed new genetics when I came across this thread. The beauty of that system is you can put new clones in every week, speeding up the results of tests. Would love to see the perpetual microSOG used for this. :D

Second cross

Second cross

Allright I left off at the first cross of K.I x M.l correct? Now that I knew what I was looking for I popped a bunch more seeds from the aformentioned cross and started looking for a father for my next cross. I wanted to find a male that had the same pheno as it's sister had, columner growth pattern and the taste from the K.I.
I found my male quite easily, the smell was a dead giveaway. It seemed to carry the fast flowering charcteristics. It also showed preflowers at the fifth node, I don't know if that is a trait of fast flowering or not but I took it as a good sign. He had tight clusters of pollen sacs that had a tinge of dark purple on the ends of the calyx's. When you rubbed the stem the smell bacame so apparent that you could not miss it. Hold up, what do you mean calyx's? SHE started life as a HE. This was a reverse hermaphrodite. If it was not for D.J Shorts article I would have thrown her away but who am I to say I know better than him?
As for the mother in this cross the seeds came from a bag of mids that was grown here in this area. She was grown in the shade and was still able to produce dense buds. I'm not saying that they were huge or anything but they were long and dense. This plant is obviously a mix of genetics because there was a lot of variability between siblings. Some leaned toward the ends of the spectrum but most were somewhere in the middle. I chose one that looked to be about 50/50. This was the only one out of it's siblings that had a sweet fruity odor to it. It was lime green with bright orange hairs and a covering of small sized glands that would glisten nicely in the occasional sunlight. I reveged her after the outdoor harvest and LST'd her indoors. She performed equally well indoors and the stretch was manageable. She had fatter buds under a 70 watter and 4 cfl's than she did outside. While she was in flower I dusted her branches with pollen from my selected male and the pollen from the split cotyledon S.Q male.
The Local sativa/indica mix x (K.I x M.L) seedlings I have going now are the result of this cross. I'm not expecting any problems with hermies, according to what D.J wrote it should not be a problem. Out of ten seeds I planted from these nine popped and I still got ten seedlings. Remember the mutants from above? Both of those are in this seed batch. So far I see three growth phenos but I'm not going to elaborate on that until they get bigger and I can tell for sure what they are. I'm looking in this batch to find the best father out of them to pollinate the other cross I have going.
The mother of this cross will be my Mexican sativa x Masterlow mother plant. The same micro pheno M.L male was used as the father for this cross as was the K.I. The mexican sativa came out of a bag of brickweed that looked and smelled like shit. It got me STONED though. That batch of seeds was grown out in two outdoor trashcans 12/12 from seed by covering and removeing the lids. All females were pollinated on the lower braches by the same M.L male. All the M.S males were cut. No hermies here. I kept the seeds from the best smokeing female. She was sativa dominate with long medium thick buds. She flowered for 13 weeks outdoors after the first sign of preflowers. Dark red hairs medium green buds. Not to awful leafy but she wasn't bald either. She stank like HELL. I don't know how this one did not get me caught. All through flowering and about a week after the chop she smelled like dogshit and skunk. Imagine your ratty old hound dog got in a fight with a skunk in a rainstorm and that is what this smelled like. The smell faded with drying and turned into a skunky hashy taste and smell.
The progeny of this cross had my M.S x M.L mother in it. I grew these seeds out indoors to see how they would do with the ML in them height wise. I grew them untopped in my cab and revegged the best ones then culled what was not needed after the smoke test. My keeper pheno is a six week plant that grows a long thick single cola and is also managleable indoors. Medium green buds with orange hairs and a good covering of resin made this my favorite. She tastes mostly hashy with skunk undertones. No sweetnes or dogshit smell left. Very strong smell when flowering. It tones down after the chop. She was a good yeilder from seed, This is my first run of clones from her and they were only 3 inches when put in 12/12 so we'll see how they do.
As these seedlings I currently have going progress I will keep posting to let you guys know whats going on. I'd like to set up a poll or something to see wht you guys think I should cross this with next out of my seedstock. I don't know, if there are any interested let me know. Until next time SeeYa.

S.Q after final trim. Just cleaned up the bottom of the plants.

M.S x M.L
She is about 5 inches tall here. Can't even see any sativa in her can ya?

That's pretty much all I've got for today SeeYa.

Update

Update

Hey everyone how yall doooin? It's been a couple days since I gave you an update so here we go.

S.Q showing her first sign of flowers. I'm going to call today day one of flowering because I saw the first signs of bud today. She has been in 12/12 since sunday now, 5 days I believe.

Cab pics. The leaves on these girls are huge, they are quickly becoming a PITA. It won't be long and they'll have a date with the magic lumen bringing scissor god.

Seedlings. (Kentucky Indica x Masterlow) x Local Sativa/Indica mix, they are coming along nicely now. I think they were showing the first signs of nute burn so I had to flush. This is the first time I have used FFOF, thought I could push it with the seedlings. I got around to checking the ph of my tap and found put I was flushing with 7.8 water. Went to store to get R.O and gave them a good drink. I think they will be just fine I caught it pretty quickly.

Well that's pretty much it for now, when something new happens I'll let you know. :joint:

Seedlings

Seedlings

I've noticed 3 different phenos in the seedlings so far. I have nine cups and there are three of each pheno. I have tall, medium and short. The three short ones are very reminicent of the M.L grandfather heighth wise and in the almost round shape of their leaves. I doubt they will keep this resemblance long. I don't really recognize the tall pheno, I guess it was a recessive trait in there somewhere that decided to show itself in the last cross. I probably won't be using this for anything except smoke. The medium phenos are where I am looking for breeding material. Hopefully I will be able to find a good male in here. It's a small gene pool to look for breeding parents but I'm going to try. If I can't find a good father in here I will pop some more seeds from a different bagseed cross of mine. I would like to use the short pheno as well but I have a sneaky suspicion they are going to be slow growers. I might let this group openly pollinate, minus the tall ones so I can go through the F-2's to find a good father if one is not available. I guess either way I will come up with a decent stud.

Drt9288, looks great. What kind of weed did it come from? Mids or brick? It looks like you found yourself a nice one.

came from a mids bag i got for $10/G so i found a charm.. Really dense, smelled like a sweet skunk and the high was really laid back... it was also my first grow so i was proud of it...

Yeah you can never beat that first hit you grew yourself.

Funny the first hit I ever took ever, I grew myself. Like 2 decades ago. Damn I'm getting old. But I can surely tell you that I agree with you kaotic. Because there was surely nothing like it.

JustinCase, Yeah I remember that first hit. I remember saying I was going to do this the rest of my life. I couldn't understand why it was illegal after that. Before that time I was your average D.A.R.E brainwashed kid. So how was it that your first hit was grown by you? Was it your thread where someone was talking about their father had taught them how to grow and was growing before smoking?

New pics.

New pics.

The large half of the cab just after a watering.

The small side before watering.

Side view of large half of cab.

Two clones that were topped and rooted right before 12/12.

That's all for tonight.

Does anyone know why my pics keep getting switched around from post to post in the same thread? Is it normal to have to keep editing everything I do a couple days later? If someone could help with this it would be appreciated.

Kaotic i cant help with the pic prob but them plants are the best lookin i've seen. Do ur thing man all i can get is bagseed but the selection is large due to all kinds of weed coming thru the city and i'm on a search for holy grail in a bag i buy off some street corner dimly lit in 6th.
