Anybody out there from Detroit or Michigan in general ever had or atleast heard of a strain called the "Ghanz" or "Ghan"? I Have asked this question before without much of a response and am hoping some new folks will be able to shed some light on this. FWIW have also gotten this particular strain in Houston/Dallas Tx as well as once from Miami. This is a very special plant that if you've encountered it, you would never forget it.

I think its just some made up name, i hear people say they got that shit all the time and everytime i see it its different and never better than some good/ok grown stuff. Maybe im wrong though but ive smoked alot of different so-called ganz and it wasnt nothing that i fell in love with. By the way im in the detroit area so i see alot of it

now if someone got a seed and called it that himself could be but ive never got any weed called that (unless you count the shit between mids and dro.... people call ghanz) and ive never heard of any growers around ther talking about a cut of it....

UHhm, no disrespect to anybody out there but, I wasn't "asking" whether or not it is "Real" because I've smoked it off and on since '95!! I don't know what "Ganz" means in todays herb market in "The D" but it most definitely has/was a staple up there for years! It is most certainly not a myth or another catch all name like "krippy" "chronic" "doja", "Piff", etc..... I haven't smoked it in like 3 years so I won't tryto describe it but I know that it does exist, I was on a unwanted vacation with a couple of dudes from the D, and they both said that its D-troits finest but just like everywhere else having to compete with Kush. I was hoping to not have to ask my ex-wife for her pops and uncle's #'s because she definitely is vindictive and would use that against me when it comes to the relationship I have with my son. So I decided since shit is loosening up legally that folks up there would be more open and closely guarded clones might make the rounds thats why I started the thread. I still am patiently waiting for somebody that has had similar experiences to chime in and point me inthe right direction

Somebody sold you a dream RUDEBOI.... Lived in Detroit for years and still have many connections with growers/dealers/smokers there. Ghanz is is slang for ANY good weed that fetches more than $400 an ounce. I know this for a fact.... I use to grow alot of Nirvana's Ice up there and it always got re-sold as Ghanz (or if sold in the burbs labeled as "headies" or "dro"). As a matter of fact, the word Ghanz itself has been shortened and people (or at least the people in my circle) dont use it as much. Most people I know now call it "G's" or "G-notes."

Uhhm, No, Unless I'm completely dillusional, or just don't know the difference between strains,(really, really doubt that) the "Ghanz" is most definitely a very specific strain or "family". Kinda like O.G. has Umpteen diffferent "O.G. Kushes" I'm sure that there is more than 1 "Ghanz" but all of them representing very similar qualities. I visited The D very frequently while married to my now Ex-wife and would ask for it by name and always got the same dank ass taste with a super super potent high. Other than Detroit, I found the same "Ghanz" in Dallas/ H-Town, TX, and had another homeboy bring some to me back in '98 that came from Miami only difference is he called it "Ghani" but it was the same Dank ass Bud I knew as The Detroit Ghanz. The last time I had some was like 3 or 4 years ago during a Sesh with one of my Ace Boomz he broke out some "Ghanz from Dallas". Anyways not tryin' to really debate it just really want to source it "Bad as Hell"!! Would give up just about anything at my disposal to get a real deal "Ghanz" cut.

I must agree with those who said that it's just a term for high-dollar commercial weed. If its green, fluffy, and sticky, it's usually termed "Ghan" or "Dro" simply because the seller doesn't actually know a strain name. These are normally street dealers who know nothing about growing or strains. They just get it from someone who gets it from someone, etc. You won't find anyone who actually knows about strains calling their product "Ghan" or "Dro". It is slang for "some of that afghan shit", but nothing in particular. Named more for just being exotic than actual lineage.

Haha, I guess this thread is kinda old, but last year at school my black friend from the D consistently sold anything that was obviously of high quality as "The Ghanz". We thought it was the street name of the guy that grew it. (He's named his weed like that before)
