Designing 10kw grow, help needed, map included :)

Hey... I got a question...

If I am using ~300 gallons of medium (hydroton), I need 75 gallons of water to flood it! Only 25% of the bucket volume is avalible for water after hydroton is in. Anyway.... could anyone elaborate on the rez size? Should 150gallons do it?

I dont really like the idea of dumping the whole rez every week or two ... that lead me to finding this interesting thing ...What do you think about it?

You hang in there Ray........You`ve come a long way and it`s all good once you dial it in so .....get to work.......lol....Those fittings are`nt anything special huh?........Electrical fittings with O rings for drainage is what I use instead of grommets, barbs, or uniseals cuz they`re way cheaper and "DIY" easy.......Make it happen my buddy ......DHF.... :joint: .......PM`s are open....... :bandit:

Hey my man my Namesake DeadheadFRED :headbange I would use the uniseals, I use 1 1/4 Schedule forty for the Pipes in the buckets I know its overkill but NO problems when the roots grow into the pipe! :jump:

Also when I used the smailler one had had to fiddle with the buckets to get them leak free. I never had to fiddle with the big ones. I know the guy at my home depot thinks I am nuts he hasta be asking himeself what the Fu is this guy doing with all the 1 1/4 fittins! :muahaha: :muahaha:

Stay safe and git ur done, Its a ton of work I am setting up 2 6k rooms on flippers right now, I do love to set rooms up but its a hell of a lot of work! I must be gettin old!!!

I finaly found 3/4 fittings.... this is the best solution so far and I think i'm going to keep it.... should I find something to protect the roots from growing in the fitting or ya think i'm good with 3/4?

stay safe all.

Sorry you`re havin probs gettin your gear Ray......They make an ebb and flow "overflow screen fitting" for tables I use that you can adapt for your drain so you won`t haveta worry about root clogs but that`s buncha buckets you got there ya know?........Cost wise maybe hot glue some fiberglass screen mesh over your drain hole fitting to retard growth down the hole during drain if it becomes that much of a concern.....After all the initial feed should be strong enough to keep the roots "blown" back out of the hole if your pump`s strong enough....I blast my feed with a big ass pump and then SUCK my drain back with another separate pump to insure major O2 pulled down through the medium to the rootzone but my buckets are hardplumbed with PVC instead of tubing..........Don`t forget to insulate or paint those white buckets ......Peace.......DHF........ :joint:

dont cover the holes with anything,...itll restrict water flow real bad,..especially when it gets all tangled with roots.
I did this with dwc and had a couple buckets almost overflow.
IE:its like a sewer with leaves covering it=flood

youll be good with 3/4 line,....buy the botanicare polytube,..its thick as hell,..kinkproof!

youve got alot of work ahead of you my friend!
if I was you i'd stagger the plants grow cycle and harvest 16-24 plants at a time (perpetual harvest)who the F uck wants to trim that much dope?!
I go crazy with 4+lbs!,...unless you have some extra people to help?
1 room for mothers & clones,1 preveg room,and 2 bloom rooms.
id do 16 per light and buy 2 96 gallon garbage cans for a rez.
I just built a room this size so I know what works and what doesnt.
love what you do and everything will come together nicely!

hey supp hydrojunkie! Thanks for the tips. the 3/4 tubig is already installed as most of the buckets (two 27bucket rows out of three) i tooks some pic but i need to get my usb cable for the camera back. ill show some new pics on monday or tuesday. hopefuly till then plants will be in ;>

yeah I know about advantages in perpetual but the space that could be used for veg is still to be built. right now I got 700L=185gallon RO water waiting and another rez of that size is empty. the room is a bit limited.if neccecary i could stick another one like that in(but lets not foget i got another room to build-same size, right behind the wall! and with not much extra space to put stuff like rez:> ) . I guess i will have to flush that 700L rez at least twice during the grow. It takes me 4days to get enough RO to fill the rez. Oh and btw, each flood means ~ 60gallons of solution to be pumped in and out.

peace:smoke:

edit: SJ: i see you're a sativa specialist... what sativas did you work with in hydro?

Vdro: BB were torn apart. :D Maybe next time. Right now I'm building this ebbnflow buckets... and I still keep soil around ;>

Some new images.
This is 5400w.

I tested them once and found some leaks... so that delays the whole thing for a couple of days.

hey ray just read through your thread. nice job man and i wish i had that kind of room to work with. what are you doing about your clones? are you running more than one strain? i run two strains and i keep a spare rez. so i can just hook it up to flush or pump a special brew without havin to change my main rezs. i hav'ent had a mother plant in over a year i just take cuttins off my girls in 12/12 in the first two weeks and i always end up throwin away tons. i grow in coco and i love it but i think you made the right call goin with your medium. it would be a bitch for ya with the coco. peace and good luck!
