DEHYDRATORS ARE UNDER RATED

Agreed. Think before you post. Most of us are here to learn, but others seem interested only in teaching and winning pissing matches. If you don't agree with cyburnt, fine. If you're compelled to post in his dehydrator thread to disagree, tell him so respectfully and explain yourself clearly. And then be prepared for his rebuttal. In fact, welcome his rebuttal... it's all a part of the process of learning.

Looks like cyburnt (who knows a thing or two about growing cannabis) and his good experiences with a dehydrator has shaken the foundation of the Church of Traditional Cannabis Harvesting. LOL

And for the record, I won't be trying a dehydrator unless someone gives one to me as a gift... but I'm open to the possibility that bud can be dried successfully with one. And even more prone to believe it when a guy like cyburnt has come to us saying that he's had good results with one.

uhh i was dumb enough too try this .. I have pics to prove it . i used the amercian harvester with adjustable temps down to low 90's. Waste of money buying that thing . anyone whant it? free....cant anyone admit that drying like this SUCKS ASS :moon:

I've been testing out dehydrators also with mixed results. I water - cured some floater for 7 days, then dehydrated it until semi-crispy. It did the job alright, but as said before the water cure makes the bud's bag appeal look like crap. The dehydrator seemed to work alright. It didnt have as quite as a consistant burn as a line dried bud, but im going to chalk that up to inexpirence. Ill test the dehydtrator out today and tomorrow on some Kalichakra and Lifesaver at the sub 98* for 6-8hrs and report back to you guys w/ the results

I think you'd find people would be willing to admit it if they were convinced of it, but you've done nothing to convince anyone. Work on that and maybe you'll get everyone to come sit in your camp, which you seem to want really badly.

The way I do it

The way I do it

What works for me is; trimming the buds down to the flower (I usually trim twice-once for crap and once for trich leaves for bubble) Also it helps to break the buds down to a fairly uniform size. I am using an older bottom heated American harvest dehydrator with a heat setting that goes down below 95. I use 4 racks (holds close to 6 oz dry wieght) and spread the buds out evenly allowing for some holes to circulate. A full load will generally take about 6-8 hours at low setting and after shuffling them once, another couple of hours depending. You want to pull them when they are just staring to crisp up and immediately put them in jars. If you check the jar the next day and they still seem a little moist you can always givem a bit more.
My reason for using a dehydrator is becaus of limitted space (kept banging my head on buds) and the fact that I can get stuff in jars much faster. Once in the jars you can adjust the humididy to perfect curing moisture by either leaving the jar open, or if you need to dumping them back in the machine for a few minutes. Once that just right level of moisture is achieved I do not consume anything for at least a month. :sasmokin:

I have done it.
After a cure in a jar there is hardly a difference.
I have done the sloooowwww cure.
Took 9 days to air dry.
It wasn't worth the wait.

i've gotta say i prefer the natural air-drying method.. the farthest i'd go is adding some sort of small dehumidifier to the space where they are hung to help avoid mold issues. if you have proper ventilation i don't think mold would be an issue..

dehydrating doesn't allow the natural processes to take place like the release of chlorophyl.. or the numerous other last minute metobolic processes of the bud.

cyburnt i offer a toke of some of my smoke.

This is youre thread and im out . i respect youre opinion ,there NOT stupid. Ive got my own ideas too , probably stupid too . its all in good fun , i never had any feathers ruffled .Seriously tried it myself, got the machine. Its ok. I just think you need to make up way too much time in the jar for what you do to the buds in the dehydro. If you line dry 5 - 10 days , then jar and open for a week or so and they aint too bad too smoke. Much better than dehydro machine .Then allow the rest to cure in the jars while you smoke out of one jar.if in a hurry.

Whitebubba, just in case you stop back by, I'll answer your question. For water cured buds, I most certainly use a dehydrator. Too much water to try an air dry without risking mold, at least in my climate.

For standard cure buds, I line dry.

Water curing does indeed have its place in the cannassieur's arsenal, but, like everything else, it's a matter of using the right tool for the job.

I hang dry.... but use a dehydrator for sampling buds for optimum harvest time...

okay i used the dehydrator today on some dannyboy ... did 8 hrs at 95*F, flipped them and 4 hrs at the same temp. It dried them out pretty damn well actually. It wasnt enough to snap the stems, but the bud was dry and smoked decent. I'd say that dehydrators or for sampling like james bong said not for drying your whole harvest

Throw that in a jar for a week--burp daily and you'll be pleasently surprised.

Its all in the JAR

Its all in the JAR

I generally won't smoke it until it has at least a month jar cure. Dehydrator or not. :yummy:
