I think part of he reason this works is with leaves gone the plant just tends to grow with what is left, and since its budding new leaves are not a priority , just a guesstimate but who knows

Are you guy's just grabbing the leaf and ripping it out of there or am I missing something? I always feel like I'm leaving an open wound when I do that.

i like to pinch the stems/leaves off between my thumb and forefinger.... that way it sort of seals the wound so to speak whereas a slice/snip form a blade will be a more open wound...

but theres nothing wrong with using scissors or blades i now i still do it if i cut my nails too short

i will bend the fan leaf down, i will hold the stem opposite side to the fan leaf for support, then bend the fan leaf completely down at the base, more often than not i hear a small "snap!" sound, i can then pull the leaf away no problem

failing this, you can do it with fingernails although it's hard to get a nice clean cut

i highly recommend an x-acto knife like those used for arts and crafts, at the very least a sterilized razor blade, with these tools you can get very precise cuts from my limited experience

this is the plant i de-leafed on 5-24 on page 13, posts 182-183. all photos same plant. 10 days since de-leafing.

still 14 days to go to get to jrosek's 45 day second point.

i'm very satisfied with bud development to this point.

oops, last one is not the same plant. it is one that has been de-leafed 2 weeks and will be whacked tomorrow. this one illustrates how the interior buds stand up and plump when exposed to more light.

those were from my first grow ever. i used defoliation, but just did it myself on my own logic. i also lst'ed and supercropped. just thought i would do it all my first grow lol. turned out nice had 3 plants like this and dense to the bottom if i recall correctly.
same combo as keef here. does well.
currently i allow the leaves to stay and lolli pop. i remove plenty of inner leaves if needed and start popping off any that block major bud sites n such. i try to leave as much as possable but still open up the sites to light. now i may not have as many lower sites to grow but my tops are twice as long as with the lowers so less trimmin and similar weight. to each his own... it all works but strain and other factors matter for how plants will respond to any technique.
leaves are a good thing, but light to the buds is also good. all perspective if ya ask me
nice thread here n lots to read.
here is a parting shot using todays techniques

those are day 50. still swelling and plenty of leaves left and dense all the way down.

looks real good delta!
doesn't look like you will need much of a second strip to me... maybe a couple here and there.
great job everyone!

OK so far with the first 2(?) leaf sets removed, but you now have a couple more sets and she looks like she's stretching. My guess is that you just removed those now, as the way the plant is shaped(you couldnt be more right, you def know your shit), it reveals that it had all of it's leaves to get to that stature. I try to shape plants so that by the time they are that tall they have several strong arms and ready to launch into half pound shrubs.

Of course it depends what kind of plant you want in the end.

this is my first grow and i had the light tooo far away due to insufficent ventilation :wallbash:... live and learn(and im doing ALOT of learning)

how would this tek work in a vertical setup? im sure itll work fine but im curious if this tek would be as efficient/impressive as it is in horizontal gardens

Uhm. So this is my first grow, and I really liked what I was reading in here. I've been getting aggressive with it the last couple days.

I could use a little positive reinforcement here fellas. I'm feeling a little blue about what I did to my babes.

What do you all think? Did I go over board? Did I fuck up the program? ughh. Here are the defoliated ladies. Full grow is in my sig.

Should I get the foil tape out and start putting the fan leaves back on? lol.
