Defoliation: Hi-Yield Technique?

Im sure the idea behind this tec is certainly strain specific, i suppose plants that produce little bud leaf its just not going to work on. Someone should start a list of potential candidates, its surly going to be a waste of time on alot of stains, some just wont take to it as they aint got the smaller bud leaves to compensate for the Fan removal.

A compatible strain list is in order!

This thread is really, really interesting. Yet another experiment I need to add to the list that I will do eventually. i always wondered if opening up the canopy by trimming would help, thanks for everybody who posted about this topic! :)

defoliating is a great technique to maximize the amount of grow space.

it is strain dependent, though.
here is the WHITE RUSSIAN, didnt respond too well.

now the AK47, responded exactly as it was defined in this thread.

as with any pruning technique, it takes a little trial and error. it does slow down veg significantly, but the trade of is budsites everywhere. kinda over defoliated, ending up cutting literally 100's of shoots off after stretch.

How many weeks in vegetation?

Personally, I have never had any problems defoliating any of my strains. I am running 6 different strains right now, and all got a heavy defoliation. Same with last grow. My buddy has quite a few different strains and he also defoliates heavily with no problems.
If your plants are healthy to begin with, you should have no problems. If they are not doing so hot, don't stress them out by defoliating.
I don't do it strictly for larger yield, but rather to maximize my air flow around the buds/plants and for better light penetration. Might as well get the most out of your lights.

Exactly, haha. I'm the grower, he's the business end. I don't even own a camera, currently.

Only pictures I have right now, and were taken with lights on. Defoliated about a week ago now and already a lot of new growth.
2 weeks into bloom-

Yea, trying it for the first time this round. So far, me likes. Actually, like you Ember, I am not doing it for more yield, rather better air flow and light penetration. Looks like every nug will be a solid useable one :dance013:

Think there's enough pics of those skinny binny's ???<G

One thing will never understand on this De-foliated thread & " sticky-trap-for-newbies-to-IcMag is, why peeps hav to post not just 3 or 4 pics but a whole series of 6-7 pics in a row. Its not like there's the proving or disproving of charmed quarks or neutrinos in 9th dimensional space here , lol.

Plus ....there's only so many pics you can take of a skinny woman with tiny breasts & no ass
anyways , before the mind tends to drift off , ya know scrogerman ?!
Like just one or two would do & one gets the picture pretty quick ... :biglaugh:

No criticizing the pic poster , just a general observation & was moved to exfoliate
my feelings out loud !;).

My skinny bitches have always done well for me in the end. Due to the crappy lighting, I was trying to get a decent picture uploaded since I was asked to post some.

if you could add one more lightsource you might not have to defoliate
----

EDIT: You know, if you're going to give me negative reputation marks and leave me a-hole messages you could at least take the time and leave a comment that is more helpful than mine.

Obviously this guy has a lot of plants and with just one light source his garden is craving more light. He has been defoliating to get more light to budsites.

Maybe if they spent the camera money on an extra lightsource they would see better results with no need to defoliate.

They are dimmable and large hoods. Only reason for the middle light was because I already had it. I ran 600w my first few grows, and the 1k pulls me more/denser product. Plus I would rather not spend more money on ballasts/hoods when I don't need them.

Yah just teasin ya ...just that it takes a ton of time to look over every thread that has each poster putting up 6-8 large pics & gets tiring on sometimes slow 3G connects . Know fnding the time to take good pics is dificult too ,with so much work to be done . Good job ...post some 4-6wk pics later !

This last round got away from me (too tall) & just getting them trimmed up from underneath was a feat in itself . SourD here ( a lil stardog lower rt)that will get trimmed/stripped above , later....thank heaven for the pvc net frames which work wonders holding up & keeping the girls in line .
