Sorry to hijack my own thread but i have two questions bout that lucas formula Hydro-Soil. I will be using Floranova btw
1) for one i am under the understanding that you use bloom nutes from veg through flowering, everyone says you are supposed to use 8ml/G FNB and keep your ppm between 1100-1300. But when i add 8ml to a gallon of my RO water the ppm are only 950. should i keep my ppm at 950 or do i keep my ppm at 1100-1300 using FNB ??
2) I understand the add back formula but in my Waterfarm my rez is 8Gal but when i got all the buckets connected there is another 2 gallons in the bottom of each bucket totaling 24 gallons. Do i do the addback formula with my rez size (8) or the total amount of water in the system (up to 24) ?? it really wont matter since i got a pen now but jw

PS the tips have started to burn again slightly since upping the nutes
#1 ppm of 1100-1300 @ .7 conversion. You're apparently using .5 conversion so 950 is your max. Yes.

#2 24 gallons. The total number of gallons of mixed nutes that you pour into the system to start with. :)

Yep... But they won't burn more than just the bitty tips and they'll love it from there on out. :) (Kinda like that first bite into a lemon.)

ok, thank you. now in your sig it says whatever formula you prefer for veg, i was planing on using 5ml FN BLOOM for veg and 8ml FNB for flower. what kind of effect is that going to have, cause now my problem is that the plants to get too big to fit enough of everything i want in my 4x4 ( ie: i have 5 pack fem nebula i want to grow but i at least want 1 of my fav pheno Jock in there but i doubt i will have enough space with the bushes the waterfarms grow) so will that formula ^ grow kinda medium size plants w/ giant buds, cause that is what i want. the whole reason i switched to dro was i thought you could customize your nutes to make your plants do whatever ya want. ie: less leaf, more bud.

no more burning as of today, flush in a week, can post final dry weight when harvested if interested ( some are)
thanks all gotta spread some rep\

actually the burning is more prominent, more leaves ae burnt. i guess they are just waiting to acclimate

Since space is an issue, use the FNB for both veg and bloom. The FNG tends to grow big plants.

Having similar problem with 3 NL girls mild tip burn...but getting rust spots. They are in week 6 of flower and are getting fed 2.0 EC of FloraNova Bloom. ph 5.8ish. PPM went up last night, so guess they are not as hungry right now. Think the ph should be up to 6.0-6.1?

Only if the new growth is yellowing. Rust spots? What water are you using?
Should be shooting for 1300-1400 at .7 conversion.

if they are at the end of week 6 flush em, bout that time, if they are at the begginning bring the nutient stength down to bout half, i got two fan leaves that have rust spots but they just showed in last few days. i got good advice from the peoples at this forum but one thing to remember is burnt tips are almost always a sign of medium stress, usually overfert.an ec of 2.0 is pretty high also, northern lights arent supposed to be that heavy of feeders

one of my drip rings popped off so and i got a flood and i decided to go ahead and flush them 3 days early instead of putting more nutes in that are gonna come out in couple days anyways. i will post update pics tonight, thanks everyone

Hydro,
RO water always! 2.0 EC is equal to 1400ppm .7 1000ppm .5 They are in DWC and just do addbacks to keep a steady ppm/EC. They have mild tip burn, which is good...but showing rust spots

Thinking about it, do you add your nutes and pH adjustment straight to the res? This will produce burn spots. Always pull a few gallons out, mix in the nutes or adjustment and then pour back in. DWC roots are pretty sensitive and it'll suck up a toxic dosage pretty quick. The lower fan leaves are used by the plant to get rid of this stuff so if the rust is all on older fan leaves at the base, you shouldn't worry. Just change the way you add stuff to your res. :D

If not, check the roots of the plants showing the rust spots. Chances are they're hanging in a bit of the bottom of the res that's not completely aerated or something.

Hydro,
Yeah, it could be the method of addback...was thinking the same thing. They look good besides the spots. Been adding back diluted nutes to keep stable. First time trying it, always used to just top with water and dump and mix. Heard you could do it without rez change and wanted to try. Think FNB is thick for adding back to DWC and can get build up after too long. Do you feed until harvest? Betting they will be done in 2-3 weeks, think they might get a rez dump and new nutes. What do you think?

Sounds about right. :) Glad you picked up on it.

I don't have any way to check ec/tds so I do the full changeout. With DWC I recommend it, especially if you can 'rinse' your res at the same time. Some folks have experienced a sediment build up and you'll not want your roots soaking in it if you see it in yours.

I feed right up until harvest day but I definitely try to schedule it so that it's right on time with a res change. That's all the flush I need and I'm hyper sensitive to 'ick' in my bud. All I get is sweet bud and I love it.

I imagine you will too, quite soon. LOL
