Yeah, I'm considering just growing the DC to give them all the sun they can get! Would like to breed with my cultivar but it would be good to do a successful preservation run, and then later on do the tinkering with my cultivar. I just hope they dont all mold. My cultivar has some loose bud phenos that do well in mold. What is DC like? Does DC have variation in flower density giving some individuals better mold resistance?

Tom Hill never mentioned this and it probably goes for any strain, The Landrace Team said in their description DC doesn't like heavy feeding or watering!

I always wondered, when the say they have x amount left, are they only counting confirmed orders that they received payment for?

My payment just got there this morning. Hopefully I get one of these. Do they send a email letting you know they processed your order?

Yeah when you place the order it will update, they are patient. They send 3 emails, so you can choose which you like best I guess. :smoke:

Freak Chunk actually didn't look bad, they removed the mutants, and are maintaining the line. Just named it something different to not step on toes I guess.

Description

Genetics: ‘Deep Chunk’ (Californian – Afghan Hindu Kush)
Type: Pure Indica-type
Indoors: c. 56 days
Outdoors: September
Classification: C. sativa subsp. indica var. afghanica
This is a Spanish continuation of the original Tom Hill Deep Chunk, a renowned true-breeding Indica-type strain with roots in the Afghan Hindu Kush. Work has been done to remove weak plants and ‘mutants’. The original landrace from which Deep Chunk was inbred is said to have been introduced to Northern California in the late 1970s. Crucially, it’s believed to have never been outcrossed.
Deep Chunk is known for its fast flowering time, thick stems, short internodes, and excellent resin production. It’s a classic Indica that produces copious leaves and broad leaflets. Buds are dense and yield earthy, herbal aromas, including hashy pine, citrus, coffee, and chocolate. A weakness is its susceptibility to botrytis. A strength is its knock-down potency.
True-breeding for many traits, this is an archetypal Indica that’s earned a reputation as an excellent breeding plant. In an era when Cannabis genepools are becoming ever-increasingly homogenized through hybridization, pristine inbred lines such as this should be in the collection of every serious grower and breeder.
Keeping heirlooms in their pure form over the coming decades is a wise choice that is sure to benefit both people and plant.

There are no differences. Its the same exact strain, just a name change. Listen to The Potcast with Tom Hill to get all the information on Deep Chunk.

Just listened to this the other day. Great stories. I have only grown the Hazeman Monkey Balls and I can say that from my 2 packs all the females turned purple except for two. One had a light blue color to it and another was all green. Green one smelled and looked exactly like an OG Kush. The rest had a musky funk type of earthy smell.

here's the light blue pheno.

Rememer there's a part 2 of the Interview on there too!

Hazeman bred it and sold it as the old original name monkeyballs I guess? Looks like a resinous afghan dominant plant. Thanks for sharing, any more shots? Looking for whole plant pictures of DC.

Wanna see some grow reports. 2 left, its all yours ICMAG. :smoke: ...................:smoke:

Tom said the most resinous plants are found at 1:100 plant ratio. Thats why I was going to by another pack or 2, but I know its in the genetics of the 21 seed pack, you just have to play around with it. Wanted to make sure everyone else could get it for their collection! :smoke:

Yeah I made a quick water/ bubble hash batch with last year's Deep Chunk hybrid cultivar flower, it turned out great, I was about to break out a piece to try it again. I don't smoke hash very often.

Going to have to have the Sativa Candy Chunk cultivar growing out there to breed with the DC. Grow rate will be different, and I may have to top my cultivar a couple times to allow the DC to see the sun! Definitely want to get the hybridization done this year with the Humboldt CSI Deep Chunk reproduction seeds, instead of waiting a year for my preservation run and then doing the cross with those next year. This may be a really good line we end up with, I'm really excited.

The sativa candy chunk is so refreshing, so I can't wait t see what the Deep Chunk adds to the cultivar! :smoke:

Don't have a lot of pics of them, but here's a couple. Have a bunch of open pollination f2s, planning to grow some out in the next few months and will try to remember to post pics here.

Not sure if this will be offered next year. I heard in The Potcast, the Northern Lights reproduction was done earlier this year or last year, and it is still available. Thought it would be good to go ahead to get these crosses done along with the DC reproduction.
