IMO, it isn't the business of the feds or anyone else what I or any other adult chooses to ingest, be it cannabis, Oxycontin, shrooms, or anything else as long as my doing so doesn't directly cause harm to another individual. Even if we all know that many recommendations for cannabis are simply to give legal cover for those who want to grow and smoke without fear of jail, so what? Does anyone here believe that a preference for cannabis as a recreational intoxicant should result in incarceration? Because of historical whim, governments worldwide have decided to sanction the consumption of alcohol in unlimited quantities with virtually no restriction beyond not driving while intoxicated, yet far more innocuous substances are deemed illegal. This illegality is what subsidizes organized crime throughout the globe. We all need to start standing up for the principle that government has no rights over our bodies or what we choose to put in them.

Who is the real owner of the grow shop? Who is the person behind setting up the dispensary? Who owns the building? There is not sufficient information in the story to understand if this doctor is only exploiting the sick and needy. Or if she is legit. While I support medical Cannabis I do not support the exploitation on all sides of the table. This is exactly why we need the full legalization of Cannabis. So to reduce the cost of Cannabis to a point that it is no longer profitable for organized dealers, gangsters, corporations and those that exploit Cannabis users. That includes the medical and legal entities.

To me this was over the pain pills rather then the marijuana. Michigan likes to give bad press to MMJ a lot, conservative religious types are in control of most the media here, big surprise I know. 1800 isn't a very big number of patients to refer. But 1,500,000 pills is a lot.

I think that the full legalization of cannabis will be profitable for organized dealers. Of course they're going to exploit smokers.

Just look at how many cars are being shoved down our throats... regardless of how many we already have, how much longer gasoline engines are even going to be effective, or the state of our pocket book...

I'm not against legalization as long as it remains profitable.

I don't get why 1,500,000 doses over 4 years is a big deal... For instance a common muscle relaxer would be given every 8 hours, so 3 doses per day. 3x365x4=4380 So she would only need 342 patients to reach 1,500,000 doses in 4 years. Seams reasonable to me... :dunno:

I don't know enough facts about the case to comment on the veracity of the charges but one thing I CAN be sure of that the message was sent to Dr.'s that recommend MMJ and their patients that "We don't care about the State Law...We're from the Fed and you better stick to Big Pharma...Or this could be YOU!

Biggie Johnson at DEA has got his 30 in and he WANTS that nice boardroom gig he was promised.

I knew a bird Colonel that before the ink was dry on his Pentagon retirement papers from procurement was back in D.C. as a 'consulting' board member for Textron Defense Systems selling Satellite Tech to his replacement.

It's just the way the world works in Washington.

And everywhere else, for that matter.

If you want them to listen to what you have to say, you got to get their attention...
Quit paying taxes...They can't put the whole U.S. in jail.

They would shit themselves blind. Screw April 15...Send 'em a note on 4/20 saying you're not gonna pay until they smarten up.
250 million people changing themselves to tax exempt would cause a bit of panic in the Halls of the Mountain Kings.

oh gimme a break...98% of recs written are for bullshit reasons and we all know it...these docs and others who exploit MMJ are the ones to blame

Lucky for us if we grow we aren't evil and exploiting like those who recommended or smoke.

Thank God you don't EXPLOIT. Being judgmental on matters of personal choice, only supports prohibition / imprisonment / prison industrial complex.

is having 420 as a birthday reason enough to qualify for a card? how about being stoned and thinking M.I. for middle initial stood for michigan so you put MI for your middle name? is that enough to qualify because those were good enough for a doctor I know of. I have chron's and have to worry about the law being revoked because people don't even have to lie to get a card for no reason. WHEN THAT HAPPENS IT WILL BE THE DOCTORS FAULT

I would rather blame the law and the "lawmakers" responsible for this situation.

Blame doctors, blame ourselves... make zero headway.

Blame legislators, blame industry standing to benefit... get somewhere.

That's a little better... at least you're placing blame in the government's sector.

Now widen your view a little bit and start looking at lobbyists and corporations who stand to benefit from prohibition.

Obama = one guy who doesn't have much say

Corporations = a much bigger problem

Why BLAME anyone?

This is an IMMORAL prohibition.

What if we were SLAVES; would we BLAME some slaves for the way they chose to escape?

There is no blame but for the PROHIBITIONISTS.

"What if we were SLAVES; would we BLAME some slaves for the way they chose to escape?"

if I was a slave about to die for another slave killing our master and escaping I would blame the other slave as much as the one whom enslaved me. (dying because of other slaves actions was common to ancient rome)

just because your not being treated fair does not mean you have the right to make my life worse.

If there is a unjust law going through a slow but real change in the right direction is the best bet to abuse it and cause the progress to be reversed?

I don't give a F*CK about your rights when what your doing is hurting mine.

First off if I am being treated unfairly I will decide what I do about it. If your master beats you for what I do, too fucking bad; I don't give a shit about slaves or sheep who submit.

Please explain how "What I am doing is hurting your rights?" You willingly live as a slave, what rights could you possibly believe you posses?

If there is an unjust law or unjust ruler it is best to eliminate it, see Nicholas Chauchesku.

You are a very scary guy that likes being a slave more than fighting for his freedom, I'm sorry you give two shits about how someone might kill your master as you obediently work his fields and lick his balls.

I want no part of progressing with sheep or slaves. My progress will be made or lost as a man. When they come for me I will not blame the sheep or slaves for making master angry, I will stand and fight knowing that I have the moral high ground.

You lost the point or are just extremely selfish, the point is there is a correct way of doing things and just because your not being treated fairly does not mean you should ignore the fact that you can get what you want and not hurt others by following a law we worked hard for. (mmmp)

Also you assume we are talking pre-civil war america slavery, throughout most of history slavery was caused by loosing a war or BY YOUR OWN ACTIONS such as going into extreme debt and slavery could very well be only for a period of time. If I got into debt and had to incur 5 years of slavery to a roman master (common in ancient time) and I was about to be put to death 1 year before I was to be freed yes I am pissed at the other slave.

I belive in responsibility for our own actions and not harming others, I guess I'm the only one.

You missed the point. "The Correct Way" as defined by someone who states they blame the escaped slave as much as the enslavers will never be my way.

You still failed to mention how ANYTHING I am doing is "Hurting your rights." There is no WE that you and I are any part of. I'm glad IF YOU worked hard for these PROHIBITIONIST laws, but I did not and I will violate YOUR prohibitionist laws as quickly and easily as I violate all previous prohibition laws.

Follow the law you worked hard to create? Why the fuck do you feel any NEED or AUTHORITY to create a law to govern what I do with my body?

Oh now I get it your talking about the national laws and are taking that analogy too seriously. I am refering to michigan's laws as this thread is about the DEA'S actions in michigan and by proxy how they act towards other medical states.

I thought my comments about how you can get what you want if you follow the law and the fact I specifically mentioned MMMP made that clear.

Yeah I am a little feisty about ANY law that would regulate my personal behaviors that do NOT effect others.

I would like people to use cannabis as they see fit, if that comports with law fine; if not oh well.

The DEA is just one faction of the enemy, they don't honor or care about the laws you worked hard to pass; they will jack boot Drs and cannabis providers DESPITE your state laws and level of compliance.

Again my actions are my own, your actions are your own if either of us is punished by the government for actions of another; it is the government that is immoral and we are both victims.

Blaming one victim for the actions of the abuser is NOT progress, it only serves to re-enforce the IMMORAL actions of the abuser.

Be free grow 1 or 10,000 plants as you see fit but please don't base your cultivation on how it will effect me or the prohibitionists around me.

I agree with you to an extent, when people have to break the law thats one thing but going out of your way to break a law and put others at risk is stupid and selfish.

Uh what does that mean? How does one person's growing or smoking put "others at risk."?

To me stupid and selfish is regulating the non harmful behavior of your neighbor.
