Day 54 flowering: 1st grow with 2 unknown strains

Fine job Lan. My first grow is an embarrassment compared to yours. You'll have some diggity dank in short order. Just let them ripen don't pick too early, that's the first timers biggest wrong. Then theirs the watering, I'd water with more volume less often. Roots need to dry out and obtain oxygen. All in all terrific job, looking foward to your next grows.

Hi Blackmelo,

What is your watering schedule? My setup is pretty similar to yours, and I water 1500ml per plant, every 2 days. It was every 3 days at the end of veg / preflowering period, but now they have slowed off a bit.

Peace,

Phineas

Again, I'm flattered with the compliments!

I only had a few seeds to begin with and as it turned out, only 3 were female and one happened to turn hermie in the second week of flowering.

I now have a hand microscope and have been observing the trichomes. I don't really see much amber coloration, however the opaque ones seem to be reasonably prevalent. Unfortunately, I do have a bit of a time constraint and will need to harvest very soon...as of today it is day 60.

As for the watering schedule, up until recently it was consistently 2 liters per plant every other day. Now that the flushing process has begun, it almost seems as if they are being more conservative with their uptake and I have been giving them 2 liters every 3 days or so.

I couldn't resist adding in another pic...the change in photopigments is quite striking!

wow man that last pic looks even better. They look nearly done to me. Maybe let em go till day 65? I can pretty safely say that it would not be too early to harvest her now but who knows...

watering amount makes no differeence. Some mediums dry out much faster than others and some grow rooms are more humid than others. Temperature will have an effect on water transpiration too. More water is not necessarily better so I'm not sure why you asked this question phineas but I feed 2 litres per plant about every 4-6 days.

Edit: pot size will make all the difference too. I use 15-20 litre pots in flowering

Hi Blackmelo,

I realise that, I was merely expressing an intrest in a comparative situation, but thanks anyway. And I agree with you on the pot size, makes a big difference to the end result. I've also found more nutrient problems with smaller pots, because of lockups, but that could just be me...

Peace,

Phineas

Dood those are some F A T looking bagseeds. Did you escape the misfortune of hermaphroditism? If so lucky you...

Your future grows are going to be even bigger and badder than this, looks like you have a real aptitude for growing. Awesome work, can't wait to see the results! *drool*

Day 61: the harvest...did I mention that I am absolutely obsessed with taking budshots?

Can't be certain, but I may end up with close to a quarter pound...which would be roughly 0.25g per watt. I've obviously got some work to do in the future!

LAN - Congratulations on your harvest. That has got to be some killer smoke.

I wish my first run would have turned out with such beautiful girls!

How is the aroma coming off of them, now that they have been cut?

Take care

They've been drying for a couple days now...and the aroma from both plants is almost a mixture between skunk/fruit/hydrocarbon if that makes sense. :joint:

Here's a closeup.

My stash has been jar-curing for some time now and I've been sampling it with alarming frequency :joint:

The smoke is smooth and has a dank lemon aroma. Rolling it into joints is almost effortless as it sticks together so well, and the resulting ash is powdery and pearly white.

The high itself is fast hitting and intitially cerebral and energetic. In higher doses it really locks me to the couch, and the burnout is a little rough but it seems to lessen as it cures over time.

Here's a shot on top of my Wheels of Fire album:

And another for good measure!

The weight of my stash has dropped since the jaring, but is still over 200g...hopefully it tapers off real soon!
