hello. thanks for the responses. ya i think im gonna take a scissor when i take pictures next time. tdot. hey thanks, for your question i dont really know how to measure lol have to wait til its harvested in 3 weeks or so. im going to post more pics, been having lots of fun with my sis' cam.
edit: k got the pics uploaded gonna start to add them now.
hey peeps. these are the lights i used.
veg - 50 watts of sunlight cfls
first half of flowering - 78 watts of soft whites + 50 watts of daylights
up to yesterday - 104 watts of soft whites + 25 watts of daylights
today i did some thinking and managed to fit another 26 watts of soft whites..
so the total right now = 155 watts of cfls, 5+1 soft+daylight cfls
my box is 10in width x 13in length x 15in height. so less than 1 sq feet. it equals a lil over 170 watts per square feet or 11,000+ lpsf
thanks for lookin and thanks for the positive replies !!
hey sourdog, naw its 5 soft whits and 1 daylight. ive only got 1 plant in my box. i dont know the cfm rating of my fan because i found it around the house.. lol my temps are in the 70-80s. thanks for droppin by
hey bongasaur. it kinda does actually.. oi doubt its the same strain though lol. thanks for stoppin in
Beautiful job using CFLs. Way to conserve power and prove you can grow great buds using just CFLs. They do a bang up job for me in my veg cab. Good mix of spectrum too. Good luck with the micro-grow section.
Nice to see another CFL grower here. Very nice looking buds coming off such low wattage and fluorescents too. It's great to see some inspiring pictures of what can be done with modest lighting and space.
What kind of yield are you anticipating? You got any odor control in there?
I'm using 125 watts CFL in a couple speaker boxes I've been growing in for the past few months now. My speakers are very close to the size of your box at about 12" x 12" x 27". I've got about 16" to 18" of vertical height to grow in. I'm just about to pull my second harvest out and I'm expecting around 1.5 ounces per speaker.
I've noticed genetics play a big role in getting those nice big fat buds. I've been growing bagseed sativa exclusively until recently and have been disappointed by the size of my buds and was thinking I'd need more light or switch to a small hps for better results. That was until I got a hold of a more indica dominant strain and am now seeing buds that are 3 to 4 times the size I'm used to.
hey tml, thx for the compliment, luv them cfls man lol.
hey oporator, for my yield, i dont want to have any high expectations and be disappointed, so im just going to hope for 10 grams. hopefully i get it too =x. for odor control, i dont have any. i only have one plant and it isnt very smelly. its only noticeable if i close my window and door and let it stink up the room. hey feel free to post some of your cfl buds here if ya want, love to see what them huge watters can do.
thanx for stoppin by all
I'd check into temps and/or PH issues, though... I think you might have better results if a couple adjustments are made next time around. I'm basing my suspicions upon all the yellowing... there's always more towards the end, but I'm willing to bet that you'd have a lot less right now if the ph was different.
If you're in soil, try to keep your water at 6.0. Check your runoff... I'm willing to bet it will be off. Don't get me wrong... looks like some GREAT smoke! Just thought I'd try to help a little... if your runoff is right around 6, then I was wrong. I assume the temp issue is less possible since you're running CFLs... what with them staying so cool & all.
all the best,
cap
PS definately cut ALL that yellow crap outta there if you haven't already. It invites disease/mould and takes up energy that could be headed other places.
hey captain thanks for the advice. im pretty much going to let the plant do what it can until harvest time. my next grow however, im goinn to need to monitor the ph and hope to avoid the same problem. thanks for stoppin by ! hopin for some nice smoke also.
The PH at 6 (soil) will make great improvements... make sure to post pics of the next round!
As for the smoke.... I'd say you're going to get some great smoke. Not to worry about that. Kinda difficult to say for sure from the pics, but it almost looks like you've got something with LUI in there... did the bud you got it from seem like major indica?
i have no idea captain hook lol. when i had the bud i just started into reading about growing and didnt really look out for any qualities. but i liked the smell though.. like strong pungent flower perfume.. and when i broke apart the bud my fingers smelled like peanut butter. the high was pretty weak imo. seemed like it went away too fast. im guessing that whoever grew it cut it way too early.
