they look good but if you had a bigger blower for your hood you could get it closser to the plants i had a 400 in a cool tube with a 140cfm dayton that you could touch the glass with no discomfort at all:joint:

That is actually what I have. I have a 147cfm canfan with carbon filter. I had them a few inches and they seemed fine. But then on the advice of people here I moved them back to 8 inches - I might drop them back down now that you say that.

THanks for the heads up dude

Only reason to move it back is heat and footprint. If you can get the light closer, do it.

just hang your thermometer right up at the tops of the plants . that will tell you what your temp. is up there and you can act accordingly. i was taking temps. around 8" below the canopy and was (mistakenly) thinking that things were "cool".

Why do you have a screen that's not being used under the light? All it's doing is blocking light at this point.

(from pocket pc during lunch)

ya, I was kinda thinkin about that. my Mentor marked that as the spot.....but doesn't look that the tops will grow past the screen (actually it is twine)....that's partly why I did the original post cause I expected them to be bigger. wasn't sure if it was the light being not close enough or what.....I will remove the "screen" tonight and will test the temp near tops somehow

thanks all for the help ....won't be too much longer now

If your mentor told you to cut the fan leaves off, you need a new mentor. Fan leaves are big ole' sugar factories, and cutting them off has affected your total yield adversely. You would be well advised to read, and follow, JJ's advice above.

no no no, i never removed any fan leaves. ONly lower branches that had flowers on it. I have never removed a fan leaf from any flowering stems other than to remove the flowered stem entirely (first few stems had flowering but Mentor said it was too low and wouldnt get enough light)

Hope we got that cleared up.
