this is a serious question and deserves a serious answer
liability
first of all you cant just "shoot down" sht over inhabited areas
even a smallish drone would cause damage to your person or property and one of these super drones could wreck some stuff if it came crashing down
the gov/ authorities would be on the hook for any damage
im sure if they could identify the drone operator they would send the police out to have a chat and give them a warning about flying over restricted areas
/cant be too heavy handed
but i dont know if they can trace the signal back to the sender
i shot an arrow in the air...
simpler answer, they've tried and it hasn't worked

US government officials say that they are not own military, not foreign adversary, not commercial and have no malicious intent. And people from the motherland of false flags, inside jobs and mass killings stop thinking when they are given these three possibilities. Ur government succeeded in switching off critical thinking in a maliciously high amount of their population. When will U use your brains again? When it's not these three things then it is......private US military contractors!
I have also not seen any capabilities in those hundreds of videos that surpass any of the known parameters of military or civil aircraft. 100% of what I've seen in the last month have flight characteristics of helicopters, drones, airplanes, Chinese lanterns etc.
Then youtubers started a hysteria about ORBS.
Just one example: One Youtuber got a new camera, I think it was a coolpix with a large zoom, but he was not able to operate it because he knows nothing about manually focusing a photo camera and obviously couldn't take the time to read into it and the only thing he operated his whole life was an iPhone. But now he pretends he's an orb witness and makes people believe the same with his out of focus videos of the planet venus. And that's one example of hundreds. Intelligence, truth and trustworthiness have lost in your country and it's now getting obvious.
I'm not saying there aren't any orbs that come from other worlds as I've seen one in my childhood from two meters away btw. but what we see here is a psychological operation that is based on government lies, media hysteria and people that are fine with closing down their brains after being presented with three easy options.
You know your government is lying.
You know your media is lying.
You know that people sell their soul for clicks on social media.
Count everything together!

Some of this may already have been mentioned (am not willing to go through 30 pages of thread to check):

A "do they exist?" discussion is moot, as is the topic of "believing" vs. "not believing". Single sufficient proof would be the 2004 USS Nimitz incident, in which the object in question was recorded on visual spectrum and FLIR (infrared) camera, as well as caught on radar. That data has been officially released (in 2017, afair) by the Pentagon. This physical object also reacted intelligently to interception attempts, and also preemptively moved exactly to the intercepting flight crew's future target coordinate, indicating the UFO / UAP had access to their computers. Afair it also interfered with the jets' targeting system. All alternative explanations for this incidents are completely insufficient, and it is indisputable proof of intelligently controlled UFOs / UAPs, meaning non-human intelligence.
But there are of course also plenty of other well-documented occurences.

The remaining question is the nature of the phenomenon. There have been instances in which these things materialize out of thin air, move through solid material, split and then join, etc. There is also long historical context. I'll refer to the work of Jaques Vallee, or Diane Walsh Pasulka.

However, in the end, the problem might just be that we (humans) not only lack (probably by an enormous margin) a sufficient understanding of physics and the nature of the universe, but that we might simply lack the intellectual capability to even be able to understand if we were handed the knowledge on a silver platter. In other terms, the answer to this question might simply be out of our league.

They can not only trace the signal back to the operator, they can completely takeover the drone and if for example it has explosives on board they can fly it back to the operator or anywhere else and set off the explosives and there is nothing the operator can do about it if they even know it is happening.

direct hit, a long history of inexplicable aerial sightings and encounters
unfortunately the group memory is short, the events come up regularly and then -poof- the memory fades and back to square 1 over and over

we all have a level of proof, where if something does not pass teh sniff test its suspect and people have been seeing this stuff forever, so where is the proof?
im sure we lack the technology for the kind of flight needed to travel between galaxies but i know what i see? moar blurry dots
and did drones just now become popular with alien life or what?

ive seen the ukr drone bombers! hahah a grenade in a tin can, cheap and it does it job
i would be happy with a forced landing at some safe area, confiscate the drone and get after the person who it belongs to

so it turns out you need an faa licence to operate a drone over a certain size here in the us

Hey you guys 👦

The same government that lied us into various wars is now telling us aliens want to go to war!

We should totally believe them.

this is the perspective I think many politicians have
they see an occasionally odd phenomena that leaves no footprints
no footprints,no problem, at least not enough of a problem to publicly acknowledge
the current activity may be changing the perspective, becoming world wide, persistent, and becoming a problem

The public will know what it wants to know. Which is usually little. I've written that post you quoted for the few that are receptive.. I couldn't care any less for the rest.

Another short commentary: while many would want to make contact, which I have to admit was probably valid for me when I was in my newbie phase (because you know, an advanced intelligence just HAS to be benign.. yeah right, look at us from a farm cattle's point of view), I am thankful I have gained enough knowledge to strife for the exact opposite. Keep that thing, whatever it is, as far away from me as possible. Lives are destroyed because of it. Dr. Karla Turner's presentations on the topic blew my mind.. what a woman. I think it killed her in the end too.

skimmed through the first page of what's being called the cybertruck bomber manifesto
kind of relevant here as he's describing the NJ drones as being Chinese with gravity drive tech
I'm not giving this a lot of credence, but gotta say we're living in interesting times

just crazy I guess
for anyone that's even a little paranoid this is a smoking gun of conspiracy, I can't really blame them
and the truck did have considerable self driving capability, just another wild card in the mix

A completely crazy and idiotic attack indeed. But I see no logical connection to the subject of UAP.

However, the event fits in very well with these crazy times of change that we are currently experiencing. It seems as if the still prevailing matrix wants to put everything absurd on the table in order to create maximum confusion and fear.

The assumption/assertion that other countries are also practicing reverse engineering, on the other hand, is a logical conclusion. The state of development is still unknown to us, no matter which side we look at.

Rumor has it that there is an agreement among nations to keep such phenomena under wraps from the public.

On the other hand, it is clear from the hearings so far that there have been covert operations to recover such flying vehicles, at least in the past. It also seems clear that recoveries have actually taken place. It is also known that the salvaged goods were handed over to private companies. Individual high-ranking researchers have also been involved in certain investigations, such as Garry Nolan.

So far, however, no secure rooms have been made available to give witnesses the opportunity to testify in secret. Whether the incoming new administration will agree to this is uncertain, it certainly depends on whether it plays into their hands. Promises are of little value in this day and age, there is still more appearance than reality.

The major political and economic systems are as dilapidated and corrupt as possible, it no longer matters which “side” we look at, there will first have to be a significant change in order to move forward. It should be very exciting but also exhausting, many people will lose their heads, both metaphorically and in real terms....

Hotheads will have plenty of opportunities to get outraged and lash out, which they love to do. Only those who remain calm, balanced and level-headed will be able to tell the difference between true and false.

the bomber claimed the drones(UAPs?) are from China and use gravitic drives, some will probably believe this
