They are light proof IF you keep all four louvers on. They are 8x8 darkroom vent louver. They also have smaller ones that do the job. Remember to config your space and fan to see how amny or big of a louver to get. Good Luck

i used two because one was straining my fan

if you close the doors and your fan seems to get louder you need more intake

What kind of lights are you running? The fan I use is a fantech 6' 392 cfm. and a 400watt super sun 1. I also used 1 louver at first and found out it was hard as hell to pull my doors open and my temps 12 inches under the bulb was 87deg. I put the second one in and temps dropped to 79deg. The only thing I would do diffrent is put the louver on top of the other.

One 8" hole would work, but since these have obstuctions on them, meaning the airflow is limited, I would go with two.

I run one on the side of a c13 with no problems. 4" vortex pulling out of my cab. FYI I found a two-pack of the 8" vents online for under 40. I think it's worth it because it's neat and clean looking. I clean it out with q-tips in between grows as it does pick up some dust/lint... and may try to mount some kind of screen over it for my next grow.

They also sell smaller 3" or 4" circle types that I want to use for my mother cabinet.

With the Vortex and the single 8" vent it creates a nice vacum and sucks the doors shut. I also used weather-stripping.

In my opinion if the fan is sucking the doors shut to hard then your going to need another louver. Your making the fan work way to hard for the amount of air in the cab. If you add another louver youll see a big diffrence in the suction. Your doors will still have a nice lil vacum seal but your moving 2X the amount of air. This makes temp a whole lot easier to control. Also remember you should add a filter cloth to your louver so it also restricts the amonut of air going through your louver.

A basic light trap involves more room. These cabs are already short on room.

I just ordered 2 8" for my 6" elicient and c25 for that very reason. :joint:

Phil...Let me know how it works out for ya. Remember to put the louvers on the oppisite side the fan is on to pull air across the room. I have a 6in fantech with 2 louvers and when the fan is on high those doors are hard to open so I might be over working my fan. I thought of getting a 4in louver to help my fan out and lower temps even more.

After using my louvers for over 12 hours now, My temps are perfect. Knowing what i know i now i would have paid $100 for these things. So easy and reassuring. :joint:
