Dude, sorry to hear about your implosion. Thank the ganja gods there was no fire as a result. Yeah, I would say you need to balance that negative pressure differential a tad with the help of an inlet blower; just enough to see the sides of the tent pull in.

i got another dr120; basically the same supports as a dr240w minus the shared supports in the middle... i'm trying to get new supports and poles so i can use it for drying if nothing else; the problem with framing up the tent in 2x4s or whatever is teardown and the time involved with constructing new supports; if i wanted to do that i'd frame it up with poly and stick on zippers and save all that $$$ for the tent

i think equalizing the neg pressure; by opening a air vent for intake and light proofing it (easier if you don't exhaust heat during a dark cycle) should fix the problem of the imploding tent.... but honestly... a slightly stronger plastic, schedule 40 anyone, or metal connection junction would have prevented any problem as weight was not an issue

no fire thankfully and the tent wasn't full of plants let alone irreplaceable plants so it could have been way worse

Glad you got another DR and didn't let that ruin your outlook on them, I know I wouldn't go with a bigger one than the 120 just have em side by side after seeing what happen to you. Good luck with rigging the old one for drying or whatever else..

A circular saw, 1"x1"x8' lumber, screws, poly tarp, plastic tape and staple gun!!! I can make a tent you can do your morning pull-ups on!!! and you can build a room for a fraction of the price + its custom size!!!!!!!!!! IMHO

those who live in apartments have a hard enough time getting things in and out; some 8' sections of lumber aren't the easiest things to hide but a tent in a bag, however, can be taken right under the nose of a security guard no questions asked

so for all those concerned; until darkroom gets off their collective asses and comes up with some real supports for the 240w i'd stay away from anything bigger than a dr120 for the time being

yeah they seem to distribute the heat of the bulb across the entire reflector allowing for quicker heat dissipation; you could probably put a beer on top of one of the lights and it wouldn't even warm up not that i'd recommend it

the real test will be this summer; when ambient temps can push 115 outside during the day and never drop below 85 at night aircooling takes on an entirely new aspect

Yea for sure, my bad!!! I forgot sometimes that location is KEY!!! What about the Grow Lab Tents, those seem to be able to hold some weight!!

so... little update... after having my local shop make some calls dr is sending a new set of plastic supports and replacements for the two part pole that snapped free of charge so at least i can use it for drying or whatnot.... from the sounds of things i probably had a hairline crack or something in the support from day one that just failed overtime as it doesn't seem as if anyone else has shared my misfortune... the dr120 i got to replace it is now home to a single magnum xxl reflector; it'll do till i get the cash to pick up a third dr120; can we say perpetual anyone?

Im in need of a new veg tent.So I knew all the bought one are cheap so Im building my own.Frame will be 1 1/2 pvc put together with furniture fittings.Held with screws so it portable.Velcro doors no cheap zippers.Going to put a RDWC in it.Could cover it with anything Imusing pandafilm.

Wow, that is my worst fear right now. I have two DR150's with magnum xxxl's and a DR120. Genetics and equipment cost behind, a fire would put me in debt for the rest of my life. After hearing this I'm considering selling the tents out of fear of an uncontrollable fire hazard.

uncontrollable? if you are that paranoid you could easily fab some light brackets that will snug up right against the walls and celing taking up virtually no space using angle iron and some nuts and bolts or even iron pping and fittings from home depot. 120 hasnt had any problems but seems like it wold be a viable solution.

just make sure to look at ur plastic supports; look for them starting to change color; almost whitening... that's the first hint that they're going to go

my fixtures, bulbs, and more or less everything else is fine... burned the roots of one plant and even burned a hole in the plastic container the pot was in; was able to get cuts and save the plant though

i'll be hanging a magnum xxl 6" in a dr120 so i'll see how that goes; i just think the way the load is distributed across the 240 is what caused the failure.

in addition to the dr240w i have 2 dr120s and 2 dr60s so i'm not exactally afraid of em

if you use pvc schedule 40 for sure... i've heard even 1x1s will work better than what they give u but if you want to put some weight on it build out a frame with 2x4s indside the tent; easier to do if u got the supports to work around but i heard if u take off 2"s from the demensions of the tent and cut to that lenght u'll be ok... personally i don't have that much time to f around with all that and my 4x8 tent moves too much for 2x4s to make any sense

I was just snooping around Secret Jardin's site and looking at the accessory kit and the Pro Line tents. While there I noticed that the Pro tents meaning the BIG fuckers not the DR or DR Street's but the Pro ones have Aluminum poles and Steel corners!! Wonder if you could use them on the DR series??? That would stop shit from imploding on you ever again yea?
