dark period short interruption

hi all, I would eliminate a doubt I have regarding the darkness period, I searched on the forum but I have found discordant opinions about the issue. I'll try to explain. my plants (switched 12/12 on the 10 of april) are located inside a room of my house and,
unfortunatelly, my sons opened that door while playing around.
the fact is that the door have been not completely opened so just a little light may have reached the plants and for sure just for few seconds, now... for you I have to:

1) destroy both plants because the darkness once interrupted brings back the baby to the vegetative stage or may be she become "erma", in few words all is gone?

2) keep to grow on because just one episode like that is not so serious and the plants will continue to flower?

I thank you so much in advance

You are over reacting, a little bit of light doesn't mean that it is game over, however try and avoid it. Relax, and keep your plants on schedule. Also, lock your door, children have no place having access to a grow, many dangers are involved with growing such as nutrients, additives, pesticides, electricity, hot bulbs, and fire. Also if they are older they can tell their friends. Good luck :)

yeah I know, not locking the door was my fault for the reasons you explained. Anyway thank you for your clear answer. I suddenly tought all was gone because I red out of many people saying "even a little period of darkness interruption may cause a stop of the flowering stage"... anyway later I will post some pics of the plants. thank you again

Life isn't perfect, fortunately the plants are a bit forgiving. :D

Personally I've had to open the door during the dark a few times myself... things I forgot to pick up and other stuff.

As long as it's only for a few minutes.... you can actually do it every couple weeks without issues. I just try to not do it at all. LOL

All the plants for the last decade that I have been growing have never had any problems with me disturbing the light cycle for a few moments once a week or so to grab something I need in the room. You have to think, in the wild the plants are exposed to light from the moon and when it's full it's quiet a lot. But, like stated above you should avoid it as much as you can, and some plants are more sensative than others. You got nothing to worry about, good luck!

many thanks to you all, now the door is locked and it's dark inside...seems to be inside a supermassive black hole...

Mee too 60 watt bulb lol. but I wouldn't recommend it unless you have real stable plants. If they did hermi a bit you wouldn't know if it was from the light or some other possibility.

yeah I wouldn't advise it, but I've never had any hermies in my garden and I grow mostly with fem seeds that I clone out, so I fell strain/pheno selection definitely plays the biggest part in avoiding herms

The human eye is vastly more sensitive to moonlight than a plant , it looks bright but there is little energy there that a plant can use.
Same with a low wattage filament bulb , so little par light present means you can get away with it with solid plants.

Once they are past the halfway mark in flower , they seem quite resilient to random lighting , i often pull them out of dark cycle into indirect sunlight for a few minutes to take pictures and dont see hermies.

With known borderline genetics it is best to keep it strictly dark , it will also stop venders of unstable crap and their fanboys from blameing you when intersex shows up.

it is... just a minor mistake will not usually hurt. Just keep an eye on your plants and all should be okay. But yes, you are correct, the rule is to keep them dark without interuption, but in your case if the door didn't open more than a few times with a little light trickelling in I am sure you will be fine. Just keep it closed for now on and I wouldn't worry too much.

@al666

thats what i thought. but i guess if you have a 100% stable plant it wont do anything to it.
good to know in case some light ever hits the plant unexpected

nanners...yeah those damn little bananas

nanners...yeah those damn little bananas

hi all, unfortunatelly a couple of nanners have born on a branch of one plant. actually I think is due to the genetic (I found the seeds in a ganja I smoke) and not to light "intrusion". to make long story short I pulled the nanners and keep going on...As I told you i switched the light to 12/12 schedule on the 10th of april, so should be at least 5 or 6 weeks of flowering. i'll carefully make a daily check of the baby (or boy?) to discover new nanners hoping to reach the harvest asap (I don't want to chop now).:thank you:

Live and learn I guess. I was with the "short duration, no problem" crowd until I read about the nanners.

I'm in week 4 of 12/12 and budding nicely but just yesterday I found I had left the door open for couple hours after lights off time accidentally. Fans were on because house was hot and extra noise made me forget to shut the door at light out time so I may be picking nanners, but I also figure if they show up on a branch of small or no buds I might cut the branch and put in water and try to get some female pollen. Probably wouldn't work but I have to look on the bright side because I was really kicking myself for being such an idiot. Sucks getting old and forgetful.

Good luck! Enjoy.

just a question to know at what point I am. do you calculate the flowering period starting from the day of the switch to 12h a day, or you consider the blooming to be effective (about a week later)?
