I KNOW my old ass remembers way back D9 screamin he charged/started out his ppk floor dry with high ppm`s , I just can`t remember how much......2-3EC/1000-1500 ppm`s ?......

I also remember his ass rootin cuts in his regular juice @ 1.2 EC/600 ppm`s , so maybe that`s why he never had issues with burnin the little un`s OR the big un`s up due to the inherent CEC of the shit ?....dunno....

Old timer`s disease.....sheesh......:moon:....

hey, dabs! sorry i haven't read enough of your thread to make an intelligent response.

all i did to both the coco and floordri was pour a 2000 plus ppm solution through it one time. i did this right after it drained from a rinse so it was already wet. i let that drain then put it in the system and cycled the system a few times with the 600 ppm solution before adding plants.

with turface this is not necessary. but it's worth noting that used turface is better than new.

this plant is the one that i grew in 2.5 gals of atami coco with a wave pulse. it got the 360/240 600 ppm solution for life with no additives or ph adjusters.

one strength feed from clone to harvest. sweet tooth #4

plants in a ppk, started simultaneously, during veg and through stretch up to about 2.5 weeks into 12/12, will pull the 600 ppm solution down in strength. it will typically run between 400-500 ppm in the working part of the system during this time.

as stretch slows the solution begins a gradual change in character. the ppm will rise during flower to between about 1000-1300 ppm and sit there for long periods.

so you have to ask "what does this mean?"

to me it is evidence of selective uptake. the plants are obviously pulling a different nutrient profile during different stages of life.

if the elemental profile of your nutrient solution is correct, and based on post harvest tissue analysis, then there is little point in trying to feed the plant a different profile at different points in life.

especially in the ppk with it's long term solution stability. i ran a filling 8 mos one time with no change outs.

the only time i will change the solution during a unit grow is if the ph starts running consistently over 6.5.

if it gets over 1300 ppm in flower i will run straight water in the volume tank for a while until it steers back down.

how much nitrogen do you need? if anyone remembers the "ask lucas" thread there was quite a bit of discussion about the "lucas formula". he stated that running the 0/8/16 with the flora series or flora nova bloom, which is the same profile, he did not get hollow stems in veg.

he tried a grow using flora nova grow during veg and got hollow stems. he then used fnb for flower as usual.

he stated that this was the heaviest grow he had done at that time.

jack's @ .666 gets hollow stems in veg with only about 150 ppm nitrogen. which is quite moderate compared to say mel franks recommendation of 240 something if i remember correctly.

the jack's profile mixed at this ratio is about 3-1-4.

i've never had a magnesium display like this before using the ppk.

i went and checked cannastats again and the recommendation is for 250-350 ppm during growth but i think that's at the .7 conversion, but anyway.

I'm confused what you are trying to say here. Could you clarify what the point you are trying to get across is?

I'm reading it thinking you are suggesting a drop in CalNit, but it seems haphazardly written and I'm not sure what you are trying to say at all.

No offense intended, simply looking for clarification.

i think the point i'm trying to make is that there is no need to change the ratio for cannabis growth stages. i think the jack's product was intentionally designed for cannabis.

what you may need to change is feed strength.

in the ppk you find a balance between what you feed the volume tank and what ppm level is maintained in the working part of the system.

i find that indoors, with the lighting and environment i have been using, 600 ppm in the volume tank produces 1000-1300 ppm in the working part during flower.

but i know folks running more intense lighting that are inputting 750/900/ or more to maintain the same numbers in the working part.

outdoors we have someone needing a 1000 ppm plus input to maintain it.

but the ratio remains the same.

i hope i am a little more clear this time. i haven't done a lot of writing lately.

when I get into flower with my coco ppks with an input of 1.2ec, or 600, it goes up to 1200 or 1300 sometimes. I freak in coco a little and usually drain and top with water to get back to 700 or 800, then run water in the bulk res. to I comes back to 600ish.

I never change my ratio of nutes the whole plant life though. Sometimes at the end if I have all the plants coming out at the same time I will stop adding micro the last week and a half, and just keep adding straight water to the bulk res to lower ppms.

Wanted to stop in and show respect for how far you`ve come along toward dialage , especially with the oscillating fans pointed up blowin back and forth on 3 bulbs or more at a time with an inline setup like Maina runs....Saw that in Icky`s thread and had to post....sheer genius.....

Dial environment plus watts per sq ft and all else falls into place a LOT easier.....Keep strokin Dabster , you`re on your way bro.......

Peace.....DHF....:ying:.....

Good observation Mister D, I agree.

Just seems like common sense. Seems like Dabs has it and can humble himself to listen learn and advance what he's doing.

Respect Dabs, keep on!

I think a lot of people try to defend their beliefs and opinions instead of listening to another point of view and maybe seeing things differently, maybe not, but to think u have it all figured out is when ur done growing and u will not improve.
