Czech Republic Decriminalizes Possession and Cultivation of Cannabis

The Czech government has ordered the decriminalization of marijuana to allow for the possession and cultivation of small amounts of the plant starting on January 1, 2010. They have finally settled upon the amounts of marijuana that would be decriminalized.

Ordinary Czechs can grow up to five marijuana plants or have several marijuana cigarettes in their pockets without fear of criminal prosecution.

The plant still remains illegal, however, though from the new year possession of five or less plants is merely a misdemeanour, and fines for possession will be on par with penalties for parking violations.

The Czechs were recently announced to be the biggest consumers of marijuana in Europe (22% of the population consumes cannabis). Coincidentally they're also the biggest beer drinkers in Europe. Must be that "Bohemian" culture... Now Prague will really rock with less of a worry about getting popped for a joint.

They also decriminalized the possesion of personal amounts of hallucinogenics. IMO they are looking to prevent a Gulag society like the former soviet bloc they were part of. Also the burden of a drug war is not conducive to a growing economy in tough times.
Would that our leaders were as pragmatic!

They carry a few grams, and there is nothing to them ....
But growers will harvest more so after going to jail .....
Furthermore, we will hide and have more plants.

Your right radvacan! I hate seeing the government essentially support the black market with laws like this... Its in the right direction, but I think you're right the law may lead to more harm than good as far as criminal groups making money off of it... As for not incarcerating people for small numbers of plants or joints, its absolutely going to be good for the people...

Might be just a few more years of being stealthy. Hopefully it won't be too much longer before the plant is free...

The 15 gram cutoff for posession is pretty strange considering you can have 40 mushrooms! Yeah, how are you supposed to stick to that when you have 5 ripe female plants 20 ft in diameter?

Thats screwed up stuff, rad.... A cannabis dispensary organization awarded for their customer service is being gone after legally for just 800 plants! Thats nothing as far as nurseries go...

This is the same question I had about nevadas law. You can have 3 flowering plants & 1oz. So if I harvest a plant & it's more than 1oz which it should be am I supposed to throw the rest away? After my first harvest I was staring at way too much pot. So what am I supposed to do. I want to keep a vintage of each grow to do some taste testing but what if cops come and I have a pantry full of weed? How can a limit like that be enforced if you are forced to grow your own medicine due to no dispensarys?

Making hashish is the obvious answer to this, but it seems like such a waste of time for the people.... Its a political game, let the politicians play it out while the people sit here and laugh...
