Soul posted on Apollo 11 and 13's genetic background...

December,1999, internet post by MrSoul]

"...
Apollo 13 = Genius/ P75 and is very popular despite my only having created about 500 seeds.

Apollo 11 = Genius/ C99.... [*]

Note both have the SAME mother -
"Genius" which is a sister of Princess, although you'd hardly see a family resemblance.

Genius is lemon-scented, rather like Lemon Pledge furniture polish actually.
Her high is not speedy like Princess', it's a "happy high".
As a plant, Genius is a pleasure to flower, producing heavier yields than Princess with similarly resinous floral clusters shaped less like Princess' "braids" and more like a dense cone of sparkling, tightly-packed calyxes & pistils bursting out from between little leaves bristling with stalked glands.
Very sticky and pungent smelling. She matures rapidly, finishing in 7 weeks and when the buds are manicured (very easy) and dried, Genius' final product is true "eye candy" to behold.

The father plant used in Apollo 13 was the same as was used to create Cinderella 88.

The father plant used to create Apollo 11 was the same as was used to make the current generation of C99, i.e., P94. [wayback in December of 1999 when written by Soul]

(*)This (Genius) male was responsible for adding considerable yield to the current Cinderella 99, i.e., P97 generation..."

IMB Note,
"Vic High" once offered the suggestion to Soul to pollinate individual branches with individuals pollen to test males, a method which soul eventually evolved to (?) instead of his original "shake and bake" method of male selection...
A little luck never hurt a damn thing, a lot of luck can be a beautiful thing, especially in Las Vegas when rolling dice and also apparently when breeding seeds... ;) :D

well regardless of his breeding methodologies, the bottom line is he certainly got some big time positive results, it worked for him.
The "Brothers Grimm" cannabis strains will not soon be forgotten, thats for sure.
As Granny used to say "The proof of the pudding is in eating it".
That means that the true value or quality of something can only be judged when it's put to use and tried and tested.

Bravo! MrSoul, ya sure done good.

IMB :)

therefore the original male used in the 1st bx was a wee bit of a polyhybrid
ie male from same bagseed as princess which is meant to be jack herer x unknown male x shiva skunk which is a hybrid to start with.
jack already has 3 lines in its parentage so adding the extra unknown male would pretty much make it a genetic mess as far as breeding goes i woulda thought.
also i would have thought that using pollen from multiple males in each bx would lead to not knowing which male imparts beneficial traits to the line or which carries negative traits as each male will impart its own genetic mix and they certainly won't be identical males genetically.
whereas choosing 1 or 2 males max and keeping the lines apart so you know what traits the males put in would seem more logical if trying to isolate particular traits.
i may be speaking complete bull so correct me if i'm way off :joint:

the bros used "selected males" in there breedin. they didnt use every male that appeared. so dependin on numbers used they may have used only 5 outta 100.

dependin on what they were lookin for in the males, they recognized um in each BX.

eliminatin large numbers of your males in each generation may get you to somethin worth while quicker, but you lose a lot of genetic diversity in your line. recessives, sports, and abnomilies, whatever ya wanna call um will be gone.

usin as many males and females(savin the prized plants/seeds from each gen) in the work will reveal a much better selection of plants to choose from.

even in a multiway htbrid, over time, even usin every plant the line will stabilize as the genes mix though out the line.

really does come down to numbers in the end. if you run a line that you can get 5 grows in a year, and can run only 20 plants a go, you would be better off to go through 100 beans of your F1s than a gen each grow and be at F5 at the end of the year.

inbred lines:yes:

sounds interesting, think I'll just buy my seeds from these guys, and leave the breeding up to someone who has the time. I just like to grow and smoke, don't have alot of time for breeding, thou it does sound interesting.

As far as I know, Brothers Grimm is long out of the seed business. There are seed companies that have some of the original BG lines and are making "F2" seeds for sale (Gypsy has Cinderella99 F2s, for example).

good posts!
Ive been hesitant to call my PowerHouse (deepChunk x C99) an F1 for these very debates.
Im glad to see some folks clarifiying things ie: terminology

Peace, bub.

The best of the entire Grimm Line is based on Jack Herer bagseeds from Amsterdam.

ok i have a terminator clone from central IN. usa. what wouldn't it be easyer to take a female clone and give her an asprin to change into a male. then polinate a female cloneto produce seed. it should have same genetic trates as mother?? then take a male from seeds and polinate clone from original mother. repeat process 4 to 6 times to get a hiberd???

Asprin ????? Myth or magic, anyone know what this is all about? If that is true it solves soo many of my problems, but somehow, I can't see it working.

so this is real? asprin will change the sex of a plant into a male, surely its got to fuck up the genes in the process? Surely it changes a female into a hermie? Surely seeds produced would naturally hermie? Anyone any actual experience of this? What just dilute it into water? Normal or water soluble any difference? How much water to one tablet?

Its just that I have 4 tri seedlings and would like to turn one of them male so as to allow me to breed tri with tri, but so far all tris have been female so I'd like to try this from the start with one of these and would like to follow a tried and tested path with these rather than the try it and find out methods I've been struggling with so far.

it is my understanding that you use one asprin to a gallon. i haven't tried it yet. just trying to find more info. it is said it should not hurt genetics. but i havent found any info on the end results. but i will try once cloans develop roots befor transplant.

1 to a gallon, is it supposed to be important about timing? ie at what stage of development? just once or regularly and how often? where are you getting this from?
thanks for your help with this as I will also try it, mybe we should try it slighly differently and keep track of results. any thoughts?

-Mr. Soul- Lyrics
Artist(Band):Buffalo Springfield

Oh, hello Mr. Soul, I dropped by to pick up a reason
For the thought that I caught
That my head is the event of the season
Why in crowds just a trace of my face could seem so pleasin'
I'll cop out to the change, but a stranger is putting the tease on.

I was down on a frown when the messenger brought me a letter
I was raised by the praise of a fan who said I upset her
Any girl in the world could have easily known me better
She said, You're strange, but don't change, and I let her.

In a while will the smile on my face turn to plaster?
Stick around while the clown who is sick does the trick of disaster
For the race of my head and my face is moving much faster
Is it strange I should change? I don't know, why don't you ask her?
