TK S1, day 55

Gorgeous girl. Immaculate frost and flowers. Super lanky so had to train her down to still fit under the lights.

Pine, astringent gas, some sweetness.

This threads got me very excited to get growing some CSI gear. Picked up a pack of the Twin Turbo Diesel a few days ago and only soaked one seed because I didnt want to wait until next year to pop all of them. I saw OG.Gotti mention having a pack in the first few pages but never saw anyone post any flower pics. Wondering if anyone has grown these genetics out? I'll post pictures in a few months if it turns out ok- probably just the one AJSD x Chem outdoors.

SSH x BB (SC cut) x ST#4 (C.O) X (ECSD x CT) x(?)
5 beans popped, and these are the 3 ladies I got, and grew out. In coco, and fed a slightly modified Lucas Formula. Old school everything
3 distinctively different phenotypes.
Pheno 1- Strong satiiva front end, followed by a more relaxed effect. Vibrant purple, excellent yieler. (70 days)
Pheno 2- My favorite for meds, relaxing high, super easy to grow, massive colas, a Sweet Skunk terp profile, easy trim, and 56 day finish. The tops of all the side colas would form a star. I've never grew, or seen that before. I'm keeping this one.

Pheno 3- 63 day finish, with a tangerine terp profile, good sativa- daytime smoke, another excellent yielder

Pheno 2 again a bit later in flower. I had only planned on keeping 2 on the table, however #2 outgrew the tent during the stretch, so I made room in the corner.

Csi is awesome!

Saw some big praise for Twin Turbo Diesel in the early pages and thinking about scooping a pack. Never had real sour pure the closest was once in a hybrid from BOG seeds Sour Strawberry Kush which was excellent but of course far from pure. Seriously though, that sample of SSK was so good. Dark grey'ish flowers, pungent and lip smacking taste. Foul in a good way. Mouth watering and constantly going back for more. Not sure how much if any of that was part of the Sour Diesel anyways, I digress.

So yeah, sour! Like many, I've never had or had access that I know of to a lot of the famous elite cuttings like og kush, chem, sour diesel, ect. It's really awesome that CSI makes so many available in S1's, and more, to have a peek into some of these famous and quite simply legendary varieties of cannabis history. Would Twin Turbo Diesel be a pretty good place to find a decent "sour diesel" type?

Also, couldn't help but notice a couple legendary figures around the forums hinting at Chem #4 being their favorite. Does anyone know if CSI ever made any Chem #4 s1's? Noticed there are a few crosses CSI made with Chem #4 within the Chem family, most notably Chem D and Chem 91. If you were picking a Chem #4 x another Chem, which would you pick? And would it matter if you already have the CSI Chem 91 s1's? Tried a sample of Chem 91 s1 and buddy said it was the ugliest plant ever thought it was dying the whole time couldn't believe it finished and the flowers weren't toast. It could easily be in my all time favorite top 5. Absolutely delicious and potent in the way you want weed to be. It's fantastic.

After that experience, starting to go down the Chem rabbit hole so the Sour Diesel x Chem 91 combo pack sounds irresistible in it's own right, but does it have the chance to give someone a genuine sour experience?

Just some random thoughts and realized I don't really have anyone to share them with. Thanks for reading and any insight or thoughts much appreciated. Much love

CSI Humboldt creates and preserves a lot of Pakistani Chitral Kush and purple kush with hybrids with other well known varieties. All of their plants and selections look superb. One thing I notice is that people (online) seem to ask about certain varieties again and again like chem or glue. They do not specialize in sour diesel or glue, they mostly grow PCK and Purple Kush as the main ingredient or backbone of their breeding. All of the plants, most anyway, have a characteristic look them them. Old Family Purple, Purple Urkle, Mendocino Purple, etc. I have some going now and they all look small delicate round leaved and floral of course it could be at least partially because my seed plants are much smaller in appearance than the nursery clone and/or fertilized seed start plants I've purchased at dispensaries. I believe there is also something about the variety selection, where these may in fact be personal use connoisseur quality plants without consideration given to size, vigor, resistance stuff related to easier or faster heavier production yield. They really are small plants in my experience but then again the only things I have to compare to are these message boards and the seed starts and cuttings available at dispensaries which look so overgrown sometimes freakish even. The size is night and day I mean, and I do not really know much or anything about their cultivation methods. With mine it is just soil or dirt with some coco coir and cal mag mixed in occaisonally although I am slowly getting better at that (liquid feeding every time for outdoor plants).

Csi humboldt does a lot of elite cultivar crosses. that includes chems. I enjoyed thier chem 91 s1, I found a variety of the chem family in the s1. (Indica leaning types, chem 91 types, big yield types)

Pck is/was a preservation project for them. That isn't thier "parent breeding stock". To the above poster, your information on "purple kush" & PCK just reads as misleading. They are not the originator of mendo purple or purple eurkle, those are elite cuts around in the norcal area that they use, along with other elite cuts, to cross and make seeds. But, they do use them in some crosses along with the many other elite clone only cultivars.

Old Family Purple is one of those crosses. CSI has then done selection on OFP seeds and hascontinued line breading that gene poool somewhat and made yet more crosses using the ofp as a parental line.

Just wanted to clarify.

Many of my csi humboldt beans that I've grown out are huge bad bitches. For me, size has varied by cultivar, not by breeder.... They are some of the dankest herbs I've grown from beans.

Fwiw also, dude is 100% the most generous of any seedbank or proprietor of a seed website. In addition to being a very good breeder (not just an elite clone pollen chucker, which isn't that novel these days).

Guy has given away 2x - 3x the value of gear that was purchased every time I do business with him. Not just shaggy leftovers either, strangely, as is customary with almost everyone else. He gives away his main line "for sale" products, he gives them away as freebie promotional stuff. That's in addition to his preservation project stuff and untested bean stuff that is normal type freebies for all the other places/breeders. It's crazy. Love 'C', such a standup guy in the scene.

For sure, they have all types of cultivars with about the same amount of crosses. It's the same amount of crosses for their chem project, cookie project, Bubba, tk, purple eurkle, and so on....

To say "they mostly grow PCK and purple kush as the main ingredient" is a mischaracterisation and misunderstanding of the breeding strategy. Which is pretty transparent and not novel at the point. Many breeders take elite cut cultivars and reverse them to other elite cuts in thier libraries, it's not new.

Whats cool about Caleb and CSI humbuldt, is he has the original cuts, not knock offs or s1s. Many in the know use him to verify originality or to source these elite clones. The dudes library is legit. That's what makes his beans special imo. He can have my money because I know his chem 91 is chem 91, not an outcross relabeled as chem 91.

He also does good selections and breeding, using good numbers to select from. Which most people selling beans these days do not take the time/space/resources to do.

So, I respect the company and individual enough to identify & clarify jibberish about posted about them.

All interested do NOT have to take my word for it. Youcan listen to the man for yourself on so many years of podcasts out there, and decide for yourself. Certainly is enough info out on the internet for those who care to look.

Agree!

Also, there are very few breeders who would even think to cross so many of these elites to ABC, aiming for worked lines - and still in numbers most don't use for any project!

Who knows what they'll end up like, or how many will make the cut, but it speaks volumes about how dedicated Caleb is to doing real breeding work.

Speaking of which,
Any news on the ABCproject? I know he has successfully preserved the triangle kush flavor in the abc f3, and I have seen some other crosses as well that look promising, but no update on his Instagram for about a year in regards to the ABC crosses.
