Crispy browning hydro nugs help please

P

popdog

Last grow was using ebb n gro. Plants looked totally healthy green and nice. When I lowered ppm to around 400 two weeks before harvest and plain water the last week, the leaves don't just turn yellow, they dry up and turn brown and cracking. The buds also turn brown and king of crisp up at the tips too. Is there any way to prevent this? Using soil when I flushed, the leaves were just yellow and buds stayed healthy green. Should I be flushing with plain water the last week. Please help or give me some opinions please. Anyone seen this?

Sounds to me like you started flushing a tad early. The plants are using up all the nutes stored in the leaves and then are moving to the buds. Try a more gradual drop and do water only the last few days instead of week.

thanks for lookin

thanks for lookin

Temps were at a steady 77 degrees. Fans not pointed directly at plants. It is not but rot or mold. The buds look perfect except for the browning tips. I will post a pic tonight. I am thinkin it has something to do with the nutes or flush. Like I said there was no problems until I dropped ppms. I ran em low this time and before dropping they were at 1100-1200 .5 conv. Pics will be up later tonight for all you problem solvers. Thanks for helping.

is your light too close to the plants? i had this happen to me one time i thought it was the light but now i think a bout it i did flush for like 3 and 1/2 to 4 weeks and it was doing the same thing

Flushing way to early is my guess! It takes longer to flush soil than hydro...I've been told 3-4 days of plain water is enough,a week at most if tapering nutes for the first 3 days.

If plants can recover quick in hydro there's no reason they can't die quick too!...your soil results seem to agree!

i have the same problem in a flood and drain tray, one plant is like you described, but surrounding ones are healthy with mine, so it cant be nute def as i dont have it. i am running a couple of new strains but it is only 2 plants in diff trays it is happening to. cheers oz

Here is a pic. Funny thing is now that looking at it , the nugs look better than most anything else ive been getting, guess im picky. Now that im thinking about it, most plants that had the yellowing were harvested up to a week later than some of the healthier, greener looking stuff. I am theorizing that the yellowing is due to a combination of over flushing and over ripening, as I trim wet or fresh, so some plants were still being flushed while I was trimming some. SO:
1 ) Has anyone seen the yellowing crisping nugs happen from over ripening or maturing?
2) Can someone recommend how or when to lower ppms in the final phase and when to if at all "flush" or water using plain water. Should I go pure water just for a day or so as someone said above? To refresh I am using an ebb n gro. Chemdawg strain Usually flower 75 days. Thanks

hi i had the same thing, i just cut the plant and it is a type of mould inside the bud, on mine anyway. both plants were ppp.

Dropping ppm will raise the pH unless you use pH down.

Shoot, come to think of it, I don't think I watched ph much towards the end. I'm thinkin this might be a leading factor as well. Thanks for you input

I run e&f tables.
Keep the ppms at around 800 to 850 the last weeks of bloom. Personally, I hardly ever run over 850ppm the whole way through bloom. I find the plants produce better like that. Use plain ph'ed water the last week of flush changing the water every day. If not you're flushing with the same water that has the spent nutes, etc, in it, defeating the reason you're flushing to begin with. Can usually tell when everything is flushed out when the water the next morning is about the same ph I set it at the day before.
