or, they could legally prosecute him for tax fraud, because he claimed one value for purposes of obtaining a loan against it & a MUCH smaller value when figuring the property taxes he owed. you don't get it both ways, sorry. if it's worth X dollars, that is what it is worth. not less or more according to what you are doing with it. one way you try to defraud the bank you hope for a loan from, the other way you try to defraud the govt on taxes owed. pick your poison...neither scenario has anything to do with an insured value.
