Just thought I would update the thread with my results - I did end up finding someone through craigslist. Instead of responding to postings already up, I decided to post my own under the personals and see what kind of responses I'd get. I got two, one which looked like bullshit and the other which looked more legit. The legit-looking one gave me his name and phone number, so I was able to talk to him on the phone and do a background check. I was only buying a small amount, so I really didn't think a cop would waste his time to set me up for this - in NY it would only be a $100 fine anyway, as mj is decriminalized for small-time possession. Granted, it was still a risk, and I'm not recommending that anyone do this! But after talking to the guy I felt like he was legit so I gave it a shot. He was cool, and the weed was good, so everything turned out ok.

I think some of you guys are way too paranoid. It’s not like the cops are posted up on Craigslist all ****ing day long waiting to catch people wanting to buy weed ESPECIALLY in NYC where they have bigger fish to fry. I’ve heard of lots of people using it without trouble and it seems safer than buying on some street corner and park.

Also, it’s not like he has time to go to a bar to meet someone and hopes they also smoke. He’s trying to get high and it’s just much easier this way. Glad things worked for you and you were able to score some smoke.

F that shit. if u find a connect, it should be by luck or through a trusted friend... never on some random shit ESPECIALLY if they're talkin about high quality or high price as it is in that case. take your time. a record and/or prison ain't worth it.

you gotta just talk to people. everyone smokes in nyc.. EVERYONE. chicks always get free bud so get to know some women. look for those nutty chicks too. the ones that dress funny and colorful. if they don't smoke, they need to be gettin some professional help lol. hang out in some parks and shit. look for the loungers. you might even find me in one of these parks sooner or later. winter time is the best because cops aren't tryin to hang out lookin for people in the cold. they stay in their warm ass cars until called. they too damn lazy to do real patrols lol. look for college parties. wear a 420 shirt and wait for someone to comment on it. HEY NICE SHIRT. then pounce, IT'D BE NICER IF I COULD FIND SOME! lol. mannnnn you never know!

it'll take a while but you're better off takin your time and just makin friends in the process cuz friends are what you really need in the long run anyway. hang out in Washington Square Park. that's not my USUAL hang out but by far my favorite. crazy chicks, NYU right there so plenty of stoner students walking through, and there is always a party in the neighborhood.

I used to smoke by the big fountain in Washington Square Park. Same for Tompkins Square Park.. but then the video cameras and police vans came... good times...

A female police officer came to my 3rd floor apartment one day while I was getting severely baked with a buddy of mine. The entire apartment smelled like the fine fine cheebah. As I open the door, a cloud of smoke envelops her and the other female officer walking up the stairs. My dog runs out to greet the second officer.

The first officer says "You are obviously very high right now." The second officer agrees. The second officer pets my very excited dog and says to her "You should be a lot calmer right now".

The first officer says "I don't want to know how much marijuana you have in your house." (An ounce or under in your own home is legal for personal use, in this state/city). And the advice she gave me is the advice I will give you when it comes to buying weed from unknown sources:

"Keep it under the radar".

First time you meet someone to buy some weed, especially in a sketchy situation like you're suggesting, buy the smallest amount possible. If you get ANY weed, you can continue buying all the weed you want from your net buddy. However, at those prices, you might want to reconsider anyway.

I found a good connection on craigslist a few weeks ago. I'm not saying that it's adviseable for anyone else to do this, but I did it and got lucky. My only concern is that his operation seems to be a little on the big side. But that's his ass, not mine

I feel you could certainly answer an ad off of Craigslist w/o worry of being busted.
If LAW ENFORCEMENT were the ones putting the ad on Craigslist (or anywhere else) it would definately be ENTRAPMENT. I've lived in NYC & bought on the street too many times to even guess at a count. I've NEVER seen the cops set up a sting with them as the sellers of weed either. As you're in NYC try Washington Sq. Park & just be careful. Fvcking weed is everywhere in the city bro.......

It was a meeting with a stranger last weekend that led to Olson's murder. Authorities in Scott County on Tuesday charged Michael John Anderson, 19, with second-degree murder.

In a criminal complaint, they accused him of luring Olson to the house where he lived with his parents by posting an ad for a babysitter on the Internet bulletin board Craigslist, then shooting her in the back and leaving her in the trunk of her car in a nearby park.

I want to smoke again but I really don't want to go through the hassle of meeting people to weed through them to get to a source. Especially since I moved to a huge new place where I know absolutely nobody.

I live on the third (top) floor of my apartment building and share the place with my brother, who probably wouldn't "approve" of my grow, and would probably tell me not to start a second crop if he found out. So I'm trying to figure a stealthy way, both from my brother and from ... everyone else.

Man - i feel for you! I hate having to set up in a new city and with a new crowd.

I used to challenge myself how long it took to score in a new city when I was backpacking around the world. NYC took ages! They flinched when i mentioned it and backed away more than in most other cities. All I can think is that there must have been a clampdown in progress.

Luckily, dealers look like dealers, and stoners look like stoners. All they need to know is that you're not a cop, you've got cash, and you won't settle for shit weed.

Almost any stoner will hook you up for a free few grams of weed. So find a stoner smoking some good smelling weed and make conversation.
