couple of a/c questions

First, I have a room that is 10.5' W / 9.5' L and 9' high. Im going to be running about 2KW's in it of lighting and various other fans so i figure from the sticky that i should be using around a 15,000 BTU a/c. Sound right? The room will be totally sealed and have no in / outs except for the air cooled lights which will be pull air from outside the room. If 15,000BTU sounds right I have another question, all these new a/c's have digital on / off buttons and I want to be able to run this a/c on a temp / humidity controller . How do you get these things to turn on right when they get power? Is there a trick to this or do you guys just use the air temp controller that comes with it..

use the built in controler its easier....

Room = 4950 btu
lights = 8000 btu. /2 for aircool 4000
gear = 3500 btu ( prolly a lil high )
ballast = 3500 btu

=15950 sounds right to me

In the months coming up it will be a lil big but once summer hits u will love it ...
I got away with a 12,000 btu in a 11 x 10 with 2k soon as I added the 3rd it was over i was super mad I did not get the 15kbtu ....
12 to 15 kbtu is a big step it turns to 240v not 120v

If u use high cfm on your hood's and its ducted right you could get away with 12,000 btu but is it worth the summer time risk over a $50 spot

I run a 10,000btu window AC in a sealed 10x10 Room with 4x1000W lights and ballasts, btw the lights have no exhaust they just hang. My temps stay around 78-82

Personally I think 15000btu is a little overkill, but whatever floats ur boat. Also if u run co2 ur temps should be a lil higher

question about your sealed room setup.. does your a/c vent out the window or something? if so do you ever notice any problems with smell leaking out the back of it..? i plan on building the a/c into a windowbox that vents outside and the only part that will be inside the room is the front of the a/c but just wondering if any smell ever slips out the back.

Shcrews are you in a room that has central air? or dose it not get very hot where you live?

im running a 8 x 10 with 2k (cooltubes 750cfm fan) and a 6500btu and i cant keep it under 80 on the 100+ DAY'S my rooms hitting 90-95

hbstoner is in a 9 foot room not 8ft

well AC gives off some smell yes, but its not that noticeable. I'm the kind of guy who sits at home smoking weed all day, so i can't really smell the stuff much anymore haha. you get used to it. but no i don't think its very noticeable. my strain is very stinky too :)

besides my neighborhood is like one of those where everybody keeps to himself

No central air, just my little $300 kenmore window AC from Sears. My lights run from 5PM-5AM, and the outside temp during that period is usually around 50-60 degrees.. Even when i had the lights on 24/7, during the hot days it wouldn't get over 80. My room is well insulated though, with double-pane windows

I don't see any reason to exhaust, unless you want to get the hoods super close to the canopy.. I just run my 10Kbtu and some big box fans mounted on the wall blowing air under the lights, and like I said my temps never get above 80, even right under the lights.

so much easier to run a sealed room with AC and not worry about cutting/fixing 10-inch airholes in the walls of my rental LOL

SOme digital units will come on to their last setting when power is lost, then reconnected.

My LG unit is connected to a line voltage thermostat. It kills power to the whole unit when it reaches temp. I also shut the breaker off sometimes if I am working in the room the AC exhausts into (gets HOT) and it powers up fine.

This would be a LG 25,000 BTU unit

Well the key here for you is your outside temps are 50-60 degrees. That is built in air conditioning :). Problem I have is my outside temp's are between Mid 70's to Mid 80's. That is a big difference to start with. Have been struggling all summer with high temps, bud rot and high electric bills :badday:
