Yup! Smoking so much strong stuff over so many years has caused me to get an umbilical hernia (belly button sticks out too far). It can be painful and require surgery to fix.
Chronic coughing is a leading cause of this kind of hernia.
So I just want to warn those people who chronically cough due to smoking cannabis or extracts. I'm talking the kind of cough where you think your lungs are going to pop out of your mouth.
I notice people using oil, shatter, waxes etc. have this kind of cough. Mine was just from strong pot (mostly sour bubble).
So if you find yourself coughing uncontrollably, it might not affect you when you're still young, slim and active. But for us older folk who might be even slightly overweight, it's a big risk factor. It takes time to weaken the abdominal wall, but once it breaks, it can't be undone except by surgery.
Now I can no longer smoke! So I'm now doing tincture and edibles and an occasional CO2 extract (no coughing!!!).
While it makes me sad that I can't enjoy smoking, esp with others, I know I'm doing the best thing for my health.
So if you cough chronically, keep an eye on your belly button! Or go easy on the heavy stuff.
