like i stated 26,000$ and u can own a 700-900HP SVT cobra why waste 70K$ on a 2 seater vet ? did i mention this HP is coming from a DOHC 4.6 ...vetts are over rated cars and for a fraction of the cost ill build me a ford to eat a vett .........and still have money in the bank (like 35,000$) the nissan was running a supercharged cobra not KenneBell 2.8 edition ....i got a buddy whos pushing over 909 HP at the rearwheels in his 2.8 KB and another whos running 700 HP at the rearwheels with a 2.1 KB .....aka GMKILLR

another thing chevy could never do is run beside us with same size motor

i.e: no 305 ever run beside a 302 H.O (STOCK race both cars ) and most 350's barelly kept up with the foxbodys back in late 80's early 90's should tell u guys something right there chevy has to use more cubic inches to keep up with ford power it will always be that way ad now we got the 5.0 back in the new mustangs its time to put it to the chevys with the new DOHC 302 H.O... chevy doesnt wanna see ford same cubic in give or take 3-5inches VS same cubic inch motor ill put my ladys fox 92 GT Mustang EFI against any natural asp 93 oct vet her 347 stroker 5spd vs vett and eat the vet everytime with in 1320 and the vetts got cubic inches on the mustang bet u run and find u a 402 or 421+ to deal with me did i mention this car only cost 12,000$ including price of car to run 11 high 10's depending upon tires a KB 2.8 will destroy the vet all day with 600-900 hp all from 4.6 and if u wanna talk bout forced fed give me a 347 stroker in a foxbody and we will still get the job done all motor vettes are over rated for the price beautiful cars but to expensive for 60K i can build 3/ 03-04 kb cobras run 10's all day long in 1/4 mile

that new 302 is over 410 HP stock (FROM ONLY 302ci) im sure it will be able to be stroked out to a 347 also ....i know it can goto 331 cuz thats whats in cobra R 2001

anyways dyno numbers dont lie
(kb cobra will forever be a vettes kryptonite) must suck having all those inches and losing to a forced fed 281ci motor

dont get me wrong fellas i love chevy but the only good chevy is a old chevy 1960-70 camaros chevs novas

one more thing superchargers produce alot of drag go intake/roots charged or turbo if u want power all the way through my pops owns a speed shop we steer ppl away from superchargers if they got a few extra dollars if not i guess supercharge her

hmm. why do GT-R fans have to always compare to the Vette? Oh I forgot cause it has history in international sports car racing where as the GT-R doesn't really. The GT-R got any 24 of LeMans or Rolex 24 wins or 12 hours of Sebring wins ect... what about all them other cars that some people be posting in this thread, like the Mustang or Lex any history racing wins in the last 20 years? I know the mustangs got some history but not lately. I do know that over in europe they are finally racing the GT-R, Lambo's, and the Mercedes SLS in the LeMans series in Europe. So I think its cool to see some of these super cars actually racing. I see it like this in order to say you got one of the best cars out there it has to be raced. If the car you own on the street is not raced by people in the professional racing world then it might stand to say the professional racing world doesn't think it's a good racing platform to use and would be to exspensive to develop into a good race car.

What I am getting at is everybody wants to compare this car to that car "as is" off the show room floor, no mods no nothing. Certain cars will be faster then others right off the show room floor and have a cheaper price for sure but when it actually comes down to road racing some super cars are not that super. Remember the Supra or 90's Skylines where are the greats road racing wins? On the street in the right hands these cars are unbeatable in a straight line ( depending on mods).

So keep it all in perspective people when doing these apple to oranges comparsions. Also not everybody wants the same car. kinda like we don't all grow the same strains or use the same grow systems.

Quick history from Wikipedia about the GTR racing pedigree. It was disqualified for total domination. Pre R35.
The Nissan Skyline GT-R is a Japanese sports car based on the Nissan Skyline range.
The first GT-Rs were produced from 1969-1977. After a 16 year hiatus since the KPGC110 in 1972, the GT-R name was revived in 1989 with the Skyline R32. This car was nicknamed "Godzilla" by the Australian motoring publication "Wheels" in its July 1989 edition, a name that sticks to this day. The R32 GT-R dominated the motorsport in Japan, winning 29 straight victories out of 29 races. The GT-R proceeded to win the JTC Group A series championship 4 years in a row, and also had success in the Australian Touring Car Championship winning from 1990–1992, until the GT-R was outlawed in 1993.[1] The Skyline GT-R (R33) was also the first production car to lap the legendary Nürburgring in under eight minutes.
The Skyline GT-R became the flagship of Nissan performance, showcasing many advanced technologies including the ATTESA-ETS 4WD system and the Super-HICAS four-wheel steering. The GT-Rs remained inexpensive compared to its European rivals, with a list-price of ¥ 4.5 million (US$ 31,000). Today, the car is popular for import Drag Racing, Circuit Track, Time Attack and events hosted by tuning magazines. The GT-R is the winner in the 2007 Tsukuba Time Attack held in Japan—the M-Speed GT-R (9 out of the top 15 cars consists of GT-Rs). Production of the Skyline GT-R ended in August 2002. It is now currently called the GT-R and the Skyline name has been removed.
The Skyline GT-R was never manufactured outside of Japan, and the sole export markets were Australia & the UK, in 1991,[2] and New Zealand as used Japanese imports. Despite this the car has become an iconic sports car, including in countries from the Western World (mainly the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and Canada).[3][4][5] It has become notable through pop culture such as cinema and video games like the The Fast and the Furious series, Initial D, Wangan Midnight, and Gran Turismo.
The car was named by BBC's Top Gear as the only true Japanese contribution in the line of supercars.[6] The car was also named by the main presenter of the show, Jeremy Clarkson, as one of the best cars in the world.[7][8]
Team NISMO were able to recover from a potentially race ending spin to pull off a 2nd place finish for round 6 of the SuperGT Championship series of 2010 last weekend. On the scorching hot Suzuka Circuit, NISMO were able to use pit stops/driver changes effectively and take advantage of the cooling conditions as night came to push the GT-R into second place and keep it there.

Engine and drivetrain issues hampered the HIS ADVAN KONDO Racing and the CALSONIC IMPUL teams race efforts and both teams had to retire early from the race. A dissapointment for both teams, especially team IMPUL who had a good shot at moving up the championship ladder this week.

Another awesome weekend in GT racing as the Nissan GT-R team Sumo Power GT improve on their previous best results for a 2nd place finish for round for of the FIA GT World Championship’s 2010 season!

Sumo Power kicked off the round with a strong qualifying race on Saturday. Scoring a fifth place on the grid for qualifying, the #22 GT-R put in an amazing performance with each driver (Jamie Campbell-Walter and Warren Hughes) setting the pace with the best laptimes. They went on to finish the qualifying race in third spot behind a Maserati MC12 and Lamborghini R-SV.

The #23 GT-R of Krumm and Dumbreck also started off with a solid grid spot (3rd place) for qualifying but elected to save their best rubber for the main race. The choice of old tires did little for their hopes of an amazing qualifying race and they ended up finishing qualifying in 9th.

The Swiss Racing Team GT-Rs were further back with a 12th and 21st place qualifying position. The #3 car in 21st due to a puncture during a hot lap while qualifying.

During Sunday’s final, the decision to save the new rubber for the #23 GT-R paid off in spades as they used the grip advantage to score an amazing 2nd place on the podium.

The #22 GT-R also raced extremely well reaching 2nd place at one point in the race. Unfortunately they were judged to go over the white line at one point of the track and suffer a drive through penalty placing them back to 18th in the pack. They fought well though and claimed a final 8th place points scoring finish as well as some epic racing moments.

Swiss Racing Team’s #3 GT-R managed to improve on their qualifying place even on their old rubber and finished overall in 15th spot. This race truly shows the importance of tire strategy especially in the hot conditions.

The SRT #4 GT-R suffered a gearbox issue which forced them to retire when 4th gear went on holidays.

As for the direct comparison of a Vette to a GT-R. There is none. The Z06 can't compare, and the Zr1 costs 20k more, and will get walked by a GT-R with 20k in mods.

Mind you all of those production car times were set with the 2009 480bhp CBA-R35 GT-R...

The 2012 DBA-R35 GT-R is going to have 530-540 bhp, and an overall enhanced suspension.....Game Over folks.

You need to step out side of the united states if you want to see history of those other vehicles. The rest of the world races too, and better.

For the price you can't beat the gt-r..yet.

I don't really think that you can compare the gt-r, vette, ferrari's etc to a cobra. Not the same caliber of car and never will be.
