Corrugated Fibreglass Roof Panels?

G

Guest

jaykush, i think id be using the white corrugated material throughout my growing to maintain a consistent look, as throwing shade cloth over the top of a building and taking off the roof might stir up questions.

my plan is to idealy have this 15-20ft wide, 20-40 feet long, and 7-15 feet high.

im definitely open to changing those.

jay, could you tell me the advantage of a peaked roof to a single slope roof?

ill edit with a pic in a sec to illustrate my reasoning why single slope could be better. I'm in no way stuck on this idea, i just want to use the design that maximizes light.

this basically shows what i see in my head. with the single pitch, all the sunds rays come in perpendicular to the panel, resulting in the strongest, most evenly distributed light .
with the peaked roof, you have an uneven distribution of light, as at least half of the light is forced to pass through extra corugated material, making the light weaker and deflecting it, increasing the amount of times it must be reflected, if it even reaches the plants.

again, just my take on it.
please correct me if im wrong, as i need a lot of input on this

Very, VERY nice kmk. Do you happen to know the manufacturer of the material? It looks like you can see through it. I think I've seen that stuff at Home Depot. Have you seen it from above?

Are the sides finished off?

Damn, I really hope to have a room like that going. If not with ganja, at least with something green!

Any more pics?

Thanks for stopping by!

BTW, my project with my buddy fell through. He started talking about larger grows with other operators in other parts of the state. I don't trust who he talks to, and I know other people think he's gonna grow.

My wife had a really bad feeling about him too, so I'm gonna listen.

I am really going to try and get another greenhouse project up somewhere so keep the ideas and pics coming!

Yes...it is from Home Depot-- From above, or even on the ground at a distance...it just loks like a white metal roof--

Yes...T111 siding--

kmk, that thing is awesome.

I have a couple questions for ya, if you don't mind.

1) What did you/they use for smell control?
2) Why didn't you line the walls with panda poly?
3) Are those the same panels are home depot, that are white, but light goes through them?

Also, how many plants did you pack in there and whats the yield like?

There are very few things I enjoy more than discussing grows-- :rasta:

Nothing...it is in a pretty secluded location--

Haha...I knew this one was going to come up-- This is the only one with the black plastic still on it-- It was put up last year to help radiate heat, in a winter crop-- They want me to leave it, in case they do another winter one this year...but this is the only one that we have been getting Powder Mildew in...so I think it is too much of a moisture barrier--

Yes...they are transluecent ...and, if I might add...have been doing very well-- They must be replaced every 2 years tho...as they get weather-beaten, and restrict light...and they get brittle--

Mr Celsius said:

250 fills it-- We do 3 crops per season... 1st one is smallish...about 25 lbs...2nd one (the one right now) he are hoping for 50-60 per barn...and the next one will depend on what the weather does...the cold does far more harm than the heat seems to--

Peace--Jim

Thanks for answering all of those. But you made me curious.

Sorry, I'm kind of confused, you do 3 harvests a year outdoors? Are you guys using a blackout system?

Sorry it took so long to reply...seems that there is some stupid shit here about only 10 posts in a 24 hour period... :cuss: This is not conducive to keeping ppl who have something to say...here-- :nono:

Anyways... Yeah, we do all our own clones..veg them indoors..and April 1st...they go to the barn... finish June 1st-ish...Next crop goes in that day...finish in like end of Aug...early Sept...(They just seem to go longer on this go-around)...Put the next one in...and it is done by Dec 1st, at the latest-- (Hence the Black plastic, as a heat grabber--)
The first crop is kinda light...2nd rocks!! and third kicks ass too-- Last year there was a winter crop...but it turned out to be all air-bud...so that is not in the cards this year--
We do get some streatching, and a lot of re-vegging...because we are cheating on Nature..but it is still more than worth the while--
:rasta:

*Edit*
We use Kush, because it is very easy to put into flower...Kush can start flowering within 2 weeks of anything under 14 hours-- :headbange

Sorry to ask so many questions, but how much did it cost you to build one of those "barns" and does it look like a barn? I'm assuming that you guys own the property, otherwise, a landlord would look at it kinda weird.

I am not positive, since I built it, but didn't pay for it...but I believe about 5000--
We call them Barns, because the property has horse stables...so they look like they belong-- :rasta:

thats weird about the ten posts in 24 hrs thing. I never heard of that. might be new with the censorship.

so why is the first crop of the year lighter? do you veg them for less time or is it heat during flower or something?

Not sure...this is the first year I am on-board with these guys...but I think it has to do with the sun's intensity at that time of year (also a lot of overcast days)...also it is a bit on the chilly side--

oh I gotcha. here its very warm and those first three months are the best weather we have all year so I was just curious. makes sense though. especially with cloudy days.

thats interesting how you've got the kush to flower 3x a year without using a blackout tarp. a guy called Reibsi does something similiar in canada with an auto afghani.

I did this the other night after seeing the greenhouse barn and athinking a little too hard about building one.

This is a lower cost than actual because it ignores brackets, hardware, and concrete footers as well as leveling andclearing the area.

28ft wide total 32ft deep

White corrugated fiberglass roof slanted 15-20*

Plywood side walls

8’ tall at sides and 12 feet in center

1-12 ft-4x4 every 8 feet+2 ends=6-12ft 4x4s
1-8ft 4x4 every 8 feet+1endx2sides=18-8ft 4x4s

16 pieces of plywood for sides+4 for top ends+14 for ends=34 sheets 4x8 plywood

1 extra wide door in back

18-16ft 2x4s for roof (1 every 4ft)
6-16ft 2x4s for sides and peak of roof
16-8ft 2x4s for side walls
14-8ft 2x4s for end walls

=18+6+8+7=39-16ft 2x4s

32-4x8 sheets of white corrugated fiberglass =$1600@$50 each
39-16ft 2x4s =$468@$12 each
1 extra wide door =$150 with deadbolt and doorknob
6-12ft 4x4s =$150@$25 each
18-8ft 4x4s =$260@20 each

Total =$2628

Blackout kit

Garage door opener X2 =$300@$150 each
Wire guides 32x10=320 feet =$160@$0.50/ft
Black poly=28ftx32 ft=896 sq ft=10x100 roll =$50

Total black out kit =$510

Grand total =3138

=~$4000 after labor, foundations, material

i don't know if that looks correct or not, but thats the basic idea i got of the cost. O yea, my cost on the 4x4 posts and 2x4s may be way off, i kinda purely guessed on those. Price of material will also vary by region and time of year (buy before hurricane season or your plywood is gonna cost a LOT!)
