Coronavirus.. outlook

Native Alaskan checking in with the pandemic as it hits the interior.
Early on in the pandemic the bush villages placed restrictions on who could get off the plane in their village. This stopped the pandemic cold as no roads go there.
This worked tremendously well during the early stages before the lawsuits.
The republican coalition in our congress decided to draft a statute expressly forbidding this practice.

The new law did what it was supposed to do, it took the virus into previously safe villages.
But these are brown folks and the republicans know full and well this is less expensive than shooting nonwhites. Act of nature they will say even though it is the direct result of a deliberate policy decision.

Oh, aren't I just full of hate today, Try as I might to justify my attitude by using the fact that they can and are killing us with impunity and we face massive reprisals for any action to protect ourselves.

Look at the facts as they happened, the big picture..in the USA the pandemic has been deliberately accelerated.

"Deliberate", denial has folks pretending they do not know what that word implies.

Over 200,000 of the deaths were preventable, the other 50,000 deaths may possibly still have happened, although it is very doubtful more than 10,000 would have died with proper precautions, as happened in the Koreas and Japan.

Deliberate, let that soak in, a third of the entire population of Alaska is dead on purpose.

This is not climate change, folks are dying by the thousands every DAY. So frustrating talking to folks willing to die rather than face truth.

History sings the same song, no war has ever benefitted the combatants.
And pestilence has been the main killer in every one as well, although seldom as deliberate or widespread as the time around.

Both my aging (mid-nineties) grandparents have tested positive for coronavirus- they’re in a care home because she has dementia (he’s still sharp as a tack).
She’s showing no symptoms, but he’s not feeling good.

Just had a call from the hospital- he’s on maximum oxygen but his levels aren’t improving.
They asked him if he wanted to see anyone but he said no, he’s ready to go to heaven now.
What a fucking shitty year, pardon my language.

I'm sorry to hear that mate, maybe you can make your way to the hospital and try getting in there for a visit even if it is against his wishes, is the hospital close by?

Sorry for your troubles, your grandad will find peace..

Such a year ...

feeling for you and your family Mr Brunch.
cheers out there

I am so so sorry Mr.Brunch. I wish people took this more seriously.

Thank you
His oxygen levels have dropped more (around 50%) despite maximum oxygen supplementation and he’s now only semi conscious- he has demanded that no one visits him in case he infects any of us, even though he knows he’s dying.

They’re made of strong stuff, that generation.
He is a true gentleman.

Sorry to read of your family's strife, mr.brunch.

I know of some miracle survivor stories re. COVID-19, and some that are disheartening, too.

Hopefully your folks come out in the former, not the latter group.

Thanks for your kind words mate, he’s a tough old one.... 95 years old and he passed all the fitness tests for his knee replacement last year.
We can only hope at this stage.
My grandmother (93) is coming through it well, but despite the dementia she knows something is wrong.

My grandmother (93) is coming through it well, but despite the dementia she knows something is wrong.

I know of a fellow form the Yukon Territory who had 2 types of cancer, and was in Europe visiting when he became ill last winter, some time around January, 2020.

By the time the people had missed his proper diagnosis, and he had already returned to the Yukon Territory, he'd pretty well survived the COVID (mostly) on his own.

He beat the more advanced cancer after that, however, it had moved into other organs, and is continuing on its way.

But he's reportedly living his life now in BC, riding his bike, paddling his kayak, and he's got to be close to 70 y.o. by now; maybe older.

So sometimes what we think is the final moment, isn't the final moment at all.

Time will tell.

In any case, win lose, or draw, I hope any suffering is made minimal for them both.
