Cool tube questions.

I was wondering if an open ended cool tube might be effective enough to cool a 400 watt bulb. What I mean by this is that you leave one end open. so that it is sucking in air straight from the end of the tube and though to an exhaust. So there is only ducting on one side of the tube and the other end is open. The reason behind this is that I'm growing in a rectangular shaped room. And to get the most even light distribution i have to direct my bulb so that it shines its light to the length of the room. Since I've read that hardly any light comes from the tip of the bulb. and because my cabinet is so small I dont have enough space with the width of the cabinet to have ducting on both sides. So that goes back to the original question. Would an open ended cool tube be effective at cooling a 400 watt bulb.

Yes, just make sure the air you're sucking out is being taken out of the grow room (exhaust).

Oh it will be. I'm also wondering tho if it's a bad idea to hook up a DIY carbon filter to the exhaust. That way the air being drawn in will be filtered as well. The only problem with that is that I don't think the fan will create enough pressure to suck the air through a filter. But I'm gonna tinker with it to see if it will. if not then I may have to get a better fan.

You are going to be sucking any dirt, dust or bugs right over your bulb. This will be a fire hazard, so make sure the air ou are sucking over your bulbs is filtered in some way. First bug that flys in there will go right for that bulb.

You can have a scrubber attached to the cooltube, and the other end of the cooltube going to the exhaust, so that the fan is killing 2 birds with one stone. I plan on going this route when my fan comes in.

and whats the difference between that same bug flying on the bulb without a cooltube there? lol
