Cool Cheap Gadget For Grow--Remote Digital Thermometer

I bought one of these gizmos the other day at Ace Hardware. A Taylor Digital Remote Thermometer. You get a transmitter/gauge and a reciever gauge for $20.

Seems to me that this is a good way to monitor your grow room temp--especially during the night cycle. Gives me a warm fuzzy to see 77 / 60 (day/night) temps displayed on the LCD display. The only thing I would like to see improved on the unit is some sort of min/max temp exceeded alarm. The Taylor digital remote unit does feature a daily min max temp and multiple remote capability.

I saw more expensive ones at hydro websites tonight selling for hundreds of dollars. This one is cheap.

Another advantage to having a remote thermometer is it can tell you if your timer failed to turn on lights or shut them down! No temperature change when the lights come on or go off means either the bulb/ballast or timer failed!

i have something similar, 1 wireless transmitter and the main receiver. allows me to see what the apt temp is compared to the cab temp. was on sale for 9.99 at Belk haha. works great!

I've got one of those too. But I needed something to send me a temp reading from the greenhouse to the main house!

Here's the reciever unit inside my house. The top LCD readout is the greenhouse (77 degrees) and the bottom LCD readout is inside my house.

I guess the best one for a growroom or greenhouse would be one that transmits temperature, humidity and has a selectable min/max alarm or warning for temperature/humidity to warn the grower of conditions out of tolerence/equipment failure.

That remote thermometer is the best invention since sliced bread. Think about it. If something goes wrong temperatures are not going to be right and you don't need to be in your grow room to find out! It sure gives me a warm fuzzy to glance at that thing every several hours and see either 77 or 65 displayed! (on the top display)

Hello all,

I use a Springfiel Precise Temp wireless digital thermomter. Like 25 bux at HD. It has max/min temps and high/low alarm settings.

I wish it had a clock that records when the max/min occurs.

It can handle up to three remotes.
