Converting my bathroom: removing toilet?

I'm planning on converting my bathroom into a grow room. Not sure yet how many plants I'm hoping to raise; my goal is the make the most of the space availible. That's where this congregation's expertise comes in.

The deminsions of the room are about 3.5 x 4.75 feet, or 16.6 square feet total. There is also a bathtub which I didn't count in those dimensions. I don't know what I would do with the tub; concievably I could fit a few plants in there, but they would be out of the way, so if I can milk the rest of the space then I would prefer just to use the tub for standing room and maybe equipment.

The main issue is that there is a toilet situated along the short wall, smack in the middle of everything. Not sure how much space it takes up, but I could sure do without it there. Do you guys think I can remove it? I don't know anything about plumbing and all that so it will be a hell of a task for me.

If such an estimate is possible, how many plants do you think I could fit into that space with and without the toilet there?

I dont know anything about plumbing either but I replaced my toliet a couple months ago. It can be removed but then you will have a large hole in the floor. Just make sure you turn the water off First! If you can keep rotten sewer gas smell out then i say go for it.

pull that baby out!

1)shutoff water at back of toilet
2)give it a flush to get most of the water out
3)disconnect water supply to the toilet (use a small bucket to catch any water spilage)
4)lift up those 2 caps; one on each side of the toilet at the bottom
5)remove bolts
6)get someone to help you and lift straight up, keeping the toilet level.
7)clean up the wax ring and area where the toilet was sitting .
8)stuff a towel tightly in the pipe or go to lowes or depot and try to find a plug (it will be in the plumbing section and will have a bolt going through the middle for tightening it in the hole)
9)slap a piece of 3/4" ply over the hole in the floor
10)BOOM...your done :headbange

Regarding the bathtub.........cut a sheet of 5/8" plywood to fit, making contact with the left, right and back wall and extending to the outer rim. On the under side fasten a couple of 6" 2x4 blocks just inside the outer rim and secure with a couple of screws. This will keep the plywood from sliding out of enclosure. Now you have a 3" x 60 inch growing platform. Be sure surfaces are clean so the tub is not scratched.

I did this for a gal last year....she's pleased.

I too have converted a 1/2 bath ( sink and toilet ) as Hoffman noted. Works great and has a built in fart fan to boot. I did however cut a hole through the floor for a 6" Vortex inline fan intake.
