I got my Chem D x GSC fems yesterday and they are already being germinated. Only took maybe 5 minutes from the mailbox to a shotglass of water to soak overnight.

Today 3 of the 6 seeds had sunk in the water and two kind of sink when I tap them downward in the water but slowly float back to the top and one seed is extremely buoyant still and has a little green color on the seed tip, not sure if that one will end up germinating or not but still very early to tell.

All 6 seeds germinated and cracked open on paper towels. So far 5 of 6 have sprouted after being planted in solo cups of Ocean Forest. Might have all 6 up in another day or so I hope.

All 6 sprouted, very excited. Day 1 from seed 24/0 light under a few 14w 6500k CFLs for now until I get some LEDs I bought in the mail and build my LED veg light (should be a couple days til I get the LEDs).

Hey bueno,

Do you get any issues with starting seedlings in ffof?

I've done it in the past and got stunted plants.
The 'experts' said it was because that soil it too hot.

Hope you have no issues...
That being said - this isn't your first time at the rodeo ;)

This is going to be a great grow in your setup/lighting.
Can't wait!

I havent yet noticed issues with it and have started seeds straight in FFOF for years. I have heard people warn of it though but Ive never seen stunted growth or burning from it that I could tell. I usually get somewhere around 3-4 real nodes and branching just starting to grow out at the nodes at about 14 days from seed doing it this way.

Im really hoping the soil mix I made up for this run works well. The COB LEDs sure make the plants very hungry I have noticed (found out the hard way).

I got my LEDs yesterday and built up my veg light for the seeds and my mothers to veg under.

Day 3 from seed, nothing crazy yet but moving along none the less.

Do you have much experience with LEDs? Are they build your own?

I dont know a ton but I have built up a halfway decent knowledge on diy LEDs. I bought the components individually and assembled them together into a fixture, it wasn't a kit if that's what you mean.

Not much experisnce though yet, I have only finishing up my second flowering run under diy LED.

For veg:
Meanwell HLG-60H-42B (I set it up with a 10k ohm resistor and 90k ohm potentiometer on dimming circuit, 10-100% current adjustability.)
14pcs. CREE XML2 U2 4C 4200-4500K
2pcs 23"x2" heatsink bars (7 LEDs per bar)

For flower:
3pcs JHX LED 60w 1500mA drivers (non-dimmable)
3pcs CREE CXA3070 AB 3000K COBs
3pcs Alpine 11 Plus Coolers
12v power supply for Alpine 11 cooler fans

fasttech 650mA driver
10pcs Luxeon ES EX6 660nm
4pcs Luxeon ES M4R 450nm
4pcs CREE XPE P3 630nm
2pcs 24"x2" heatsink bars (9 LEDs per bar)

Veg is dimmable between ~6-60w. Flowering setup is a little over 42% efficient, ~190w LED dissipation and 212w power draw from wall. The tent is 6 sq ft, 2x3.

Some pics from last run/my first grow with LED using only 2 3000K Z2 & Z4 bins (105.7g dry from 104w LED dissipation)

Some pics of this run with the 3 3000k AB bin and red/blue LED bars.

Some pics of the diy LEDs, I havent taken pics of the completed veg bars yet but the just components and you can see the components and completed modules for the flowering setup.

Probably 4-5 weeks veg from seed depending on how bushy and fast they veg. I want to use the whole tent for just these 6 testers so each plant will get 1 sq ft. I will most likely top them around node 4, 5, or 6 so they bush out nice with multiple tops.

Looking good. I should look into LED's for my flower tent. Looks like you can cut around 800w/hr.
