Computer security

I sleep well knowing that if my computer loses power its instantly erased.

Knoppix Live CD, & no hard drive leaves a real shitty evidence trail for a cop. Also, its virtually unhackable. Impossible to replace binaries stealthily on a read only CD.

The DEA is our captor and they are not the biggest agency out there, but defnitely have resources needed to do their job 10 times fold. Albeit we belong to a somewhat underground society due to its social and legal status currently, there are still bigger fish to fry that do have the body counts and so on such as meth labs. Hopefully The DEA is focusing there resources on this, considering Meth actually kills people and ruins lives and families.

How naive of you to think that harm reduction is a priority of the DEA. If that were the case, they would dissolve their own organization.

You, me and our neighbor might want them to spend their energy busting meth labs worth $50k, but they will spend their energy busting the guy with 250 plants worth $1M.

I haven't had to explain to a cop yet, but I imagine the conversation would go something like this:

DEA - where's the hard drive?
ME - There isn't one.
DEA - Oh.

Just to add to the Live CD suggestion:

1. Buy a cheap netbook with cash (do not register it)
2. Setup Live CD onto a USB stick (depends on the specific Live CD)
3. Set your bios to boot from the USB stick
4. Only browse & post on cannabis sites from a public access spot
5. If you are really paranoid, go to a different public access spot each time
6. Use SSL when you can (change all urls from http:// to https://)
7. Possibly find a free VPN that you can route through

If you are really paranoid, do not use the same netbook booted normally on your home network unless you tweak the mac address.

The only thing I don't like about https is every page that loads it gives a warning that there is data that is not secure do you want to continue. I can not find a way to turn this off.
