Honored to have ya along for the ride my friend. I just been sitting here in limbo, but I know it won't be long 🫡

These 4 seed babies are the first plants to go Into the soil mix I made earlier.

Today is a mental health day for Bear. I just freshened my breath, gonna set the phone down and go deep into the woods. No working or peopling. Just the trees and the animals
Thats the same stuff I use to freshen my breath!!! I also have a couple other bottles, just got a new one and it is really potent, havent seen or had anything like it years.

All I know is that all my drops come from California 😎 not that many people in between the source and my medicine cabinet here in the land of Santa Claus. ❤️

Well my last run of clones shit the bed haha
I'm pretty sure the temps were to low the first week. I got 10 rooted

Fresh batch in as of last night. I cut myself with the razor about 40 clones in so I added a drop to the rez for good luck.
Got a few each off all my new seed mommas

Fox farm ocean forest ? What's that ?
Overpriced sawdust is what it is. Do I still buy it and use it occasionally, yes I do 😁

Occasionally we get bougie around here and eat some shrimps, or crab legs, and even more rare lobstah tails !

I always collect the shells for 1 of two things. I either make my favorite soup which is lobstah/seafood bisque. Or my plants get lucky and I make a seafood meal to feed to them.

Today I am making the crustacean meal.
This is high in Phosphorus, calcium, and Magnesium. Rich in Chitin ! And easy to make at home. I boil the shells for 30 minutes stirring occasionally to remove any seasonings/meat/sauces.
Then I rinse them off very well. And I bake them at 250f for about 3hrs or until they are pale.
They break up very easily at this point. I put them in a coffee grinder and grind to a powder. Then I add it to my mix. No measurements because this is a slow release and will not burn.
And the my mix all get recycled back through the compost so anything not used by the plants the first time around will get eaten by bacteria and be available next time It makes it into the pots.

I toss a few a handfulls into my worm bins as well

Oh, the hot water from the boiling I put on my dogs food and let it soften and cool. They absolutely love it !
This is awesome! I am tempted to try the same thing. Crustacean meal is pretty expensive here and I live right near the ocean. Sounds like a good excuse to buy a bunch of crab and have a feast :D

You absolutely should !
Bet a deal could be worked out with kitchen staff at a local restaurant too. We have an abundance of crayfish here in Pennsylvania, so next year I plan to start using them for my crustacean meal. Simply toss a cage in the water with a hotdog and come back later that day. Nothing beats something you make for yourself especially if it's free(ish)

Got a few in flower now. More in veg as well.
Cloner #'s are better this time around too.
Still my GH products are a couple years old. I'll replace em. Raising temps helped, Fresh salts will help even more.

That's my friend little miss Sassafras (Sassy pants) Some dick killed her momma so we raised her up from just a wee baby
She lives a wild life these days, but comes around each winter for food while she's preggers. Then late spring she brings me her new shy babies to show off, and then goes off again till the winter.

Appreciate you guys stopping by the thread ❤️ I really do !

Picked up my filter at the hydro shop yesterday. And today i collected a bunch of bamboo for making biochar.

After the biochar was cooled I smashed it up pretty good and to inoculate I added approximately the same volume mushroom compost and VERY well composted cow manure. A bunch of handfuls of oats, powdered oyster shells, and earthworm castings (about 10 each) and some unsulfered blackstrap molasses
This will sit 2-3 weeks till I add it to my mix

I've long since given up on measurements haha. But can write down approximately for anyone interested. I can also walk folks through the biochar process.
Quick question on the biochar. Have you also tried other carbon sources and if yes, why und chose bamboo as your material of choice? :)

The truth is I use bamboo because it is free. It's as simple as that.

Now as a complete coincidence....
Bamboo is the absolute best thing to use for biochar.

Some key points -
- (Running) Bamboo is considered invasive where I live.
- It grows about 3ft (1 meter) each day !
The guy who lets me clean out his patch is very thankful for me doing the free work of clearing it out
- Bamboo captures more carbon faster than other sources (wood)
It captures up to 1.78 tonnes of carbon per clump, per year. That's 10× faster than wood ! And biochar made from bamboo is 80% carbon.
- Bamboo is high in silica content.
- It is absouluty full of millions and millions of diverse pore sizes to hold bacteria in.
