I decided to germinate 3 out of 6 of my Communion seeds. They all cracked within 45 hours. Number 2 was the quickest to pop. Number 3 appeared to be a trifoliate at first but simply had a split cotyledon. Numbers 1 and 3 were slower to start but are now catching up.

Fast forward four weeks and here we are. Number 2 is feeding the most.

It surprises me how broad the leaves are for a strain that is 70% sativa. It looks like the leaves will start to get thinner as it matures.

They got about 3 ml of cal mag the last feeding, still the number 2 is a little on the pale side. My temps at night drop to about 67. I have a little bit of purple stem but I’m not worried about it. If I can get my temps a little warmer it should grow out of it.

I put the number 2 off to the side, partially shaded by another plant. I forgot to mention that although I have 4 led bars in the veg room only 3 are turned on. I recently turned on the third bar. All my other plants look ok except that communion #2 looks like it doesn’t like so much led light. I’m going to give it full strength nutes, keep it off to the side (less light) and after I repot it in the next week I think it will have more color.

I repotted my three Communion plants into bigger pots and started doing LST. I will transplant them once more into 4 gallon pots before flowering. The smallest of the three I might flower in a 3 gallon pot.

I’m sticking to the feeding chart plus about 3.5 ml of cal mag.

I cut some back up clones a few days before flowering. I used grow plugs, humidity dome and heat mat. After they rooted I transplanted them into these beer cups.

I’m a little bummed out. I was cleaning up some undergrowth when I saw some nanners on Communion #3. This might be my last time using Feminized seed. One reason I picked Romulan Genetics was because I listened to a podcast with the owner Jake and he talks about how they stress test the heck out of the plants. He goes on to say that even when grown sh*tty they still produce great smoke.

I took measures to light seal my tent. I used liquid electrical tape to cover any pin hole.

It’s funny because I have better luck with bagseed than seeds from a breeder. These seeds were over 100 for a 6 pack. So far 1 of 3 is a hermaphrodite.

I listened to a podcast with Sam the Skunkman (RIP) and he talks about doing light dep in a greenhouse. He says pinhole light leaks should not cause a plant to herm if the genetics are stable. He says small light leaks should only cause the plant to take a few extra days to flower.

I need to have a friend come over and zip up my grow tent with me inside of it. I took precautions to light seal it but honestly I have not done a visual check from inside the tent.

I’m not sure if light leaks caused this plant to herm. I recently flowered some seeds (bagseed), some phenos went 13 weeks with no issue inside the same tent.

It’s so frustrating when you have to watch a plant like a hawk, praying your crop doesn’t get pollinated.

I know it’s a risk you have to take when growing feminized seed. I guess I’ll just keep a close eye on it and I’ll be ready to cull it if needed.

I trimmed more of the lowers than I would have liked on #3.

I emailed Romulan Genetics and they have a 100% satisfaction guarantee. I’m not sure if I need to utilize that yet. As long as I get a keeper in the other two Communion plants I have then I’ll be satisfied and won’t need replacements. I’m still looking forward to flowering the remaining two plants.

So I guess I was a little bummed at first but I’m over it. It’s just a risk I’ll have to take when growing seeds in general. I’m told 5-20% of all plants from seed have intersex traits, not just from feminized seed.

Interesting reply by them. The satisfaction guarantee is definitely something special.

So many things can stress a plant.
On my recent hunt for new mums from seed, i dropped three different varieties because of intersex traits.
One cultivar created sacs after topping before flowering. So many that i didn't see them all...
I didn't touch the clone in the second run and no sacs..
Another variety had a few at the end of flowering when using one specific booster. The last of the three had just a few blind sacs at the beginning of the flowering phase. Feminized seeds but three different seed banks tho...
We can't work with that!

It really is frustrating to watch over it like a hawk.
